Suggestion: Auto remove entries on win

If the user wins the giveaway, steamgifts system should auto remove entries of the same game and revert points back to user's account.

For example:

  • User enters 5 distinct giveaways for the game "Half-Life 2"
  • User wins first giveaway
  • System removes the other 4 open giveaways and credits user account with 4 x "Half-Life 2" value

What will you say for it?

Suggested over and over. It's not implemented because the win might be fake or might require a reroll if the entree didn't meet the requirements.

Ok, so the system may give points back if user check the giveaway as "Received Gift"

Yes, that would be the best course of action. And as Jonex said if the user buys it and syncs.

On second thought I'd renounce the part with syncing due to free weekends. We have enough problem with those as it is.

Are you referring to those that won in 1 or 2-entry giveaways and doesn't have the game won in his account?

I should have chosen some better words there. I meant that the giveaway might be fake. As in the gifter not giving away the game, misunderstanding how the site works, invalid key and so on.

Yeah, that could be an idea. If you enter many giveaways for the same game and win one of them, the system auto removes your other entries and gives you back your points.

It would have to be done after syncing so that the game has been confirmed in your account. Would be quite useful.

This would only be useful after the user marks the giveaway as received, but it will mess a lot of things up if set to happen right after the giveaway is won.

I was just thinking this a few hours ago, and figured it'd only be good if it removed the entries when you checked the "recieved"-button, just in case the win was a scam giveaway.
