The capacity is where it's at. I started with around 77000 capacity, but that has been dropping until it's now at 0. All I had to do was run a few games with unlocked achievements (especially rare ones), and my boost meter was filled. Without knowing what I was really doing at the time, I wasted a few boosts when it was below 1000. If I'd been more careful I would have made a 5th voucher - which I'm a few 100 points short of now.

Yeah, guess I got around 25 precious steam levels "for free" from this badge. I was planning to get around 50 from the trading cards I've been saving, but now I'll hope to use those in the Winter Sale instead... Hopefully there's no racing game in that one... :)

I used mine on badge because I was not able to get 15k coins for a discount and because I think it sucks to make people buy something each day in order for them to be able to play the event so I just bought a few things for 12$ and then spend my achievements from Borderlands as points and used all 10 boosts to not have to worry about this event for next 2 weeks.

Well, I started the even with -4400 token, ended up with +1100 at the end of the first day. Today I just earned 100 token, so I'm at +1200 by now.
I'm not even sure why I got that low amount of token. If they calculated past purchases as "all time spent directly on Steam" (which would be like 1700-1900€) for the event I should have waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more token by now.

how do you add the points? i randomly clicked on f1 2015 that im playing.. it shows like 27k pts.. but i ended up at odometer being 694...dunno why such a number..offering because i spent 4 euros. 121*4= 484.. and 2 day giving 200..10 dunno where from..
and on first day for 100% csgo cheevos (65k pts) i got nothing.. started with -2200 pts and used 3 jitros for +3000.. so ended up using 800pts...
this all negative pts due to lunar bug is so...bugged and badly explained....

the points werent a problem i had aswell more than 103k alone from smite at the beginning and were boosting at 7pm on day 1.
but i had a capacity from 0 and were spamming boost .i bought some Dlcs some days before the sale because they wouldnt get a discount . i bought after 7pm games and got my capcity 121 for each euro spend .and today 100capacity for free
But i didnt got any capacity for my past purchases but mostly people on reddit that used sam had 100k tokens .im trying to find the connection except sam ,but didnt saw anything else :D

OK my bad. I get them in ZAR (South African Rands), and also the equivalent to about $3 USD. I'd seen people mention $5 and assumed that because we have very good regional pricing (55% off before any discounts), that we have less - but the equivalent to $5 USD in purchasing power. If $3 is correct, then the vouchers go further for those of us with decent regional pricing.

What about Lunar points? I did have a ton of those that I'd forgotten to do anything with - I think that's the big difference as it boosted my capacity a huge amount at the start.

I don't think I had many lunar points remaining. I don't remember actively participating in that event since I did not buy any games since 2016 although I do have the badge. If I'm not wrong, you need to spend money to participate which I most definitely did not.

The main factor would be "capacity" which is calculated by wallet spent on Steam.
Tasks don't seem to trigger if your capacity is at 0 (atleast they don't trigger for me at all)

So according to the Pit Stop, I should have started with 2K boost capacity. I was only able to use boost once the first day, despite already (allegedly) having shitload of points from achievements. Somehow, that gave me about 700 tokens.
(Just for the record, in the past 4 years, I've spent 5 - 10 € on every summer and winter sale, not like it matters even though Valve claims it does.)
So like... what the fuck :D
Also, it doesn't help that I can't play any of the 800 games I actually own to get more points, and those F2P games don't interest me at all (with the exception of Path of Exile).

Capacity is the key. If you have a game with say 30000 points unlocked (even previously), then you can redeem them to fill your boost meter - but only up to the capacity size. What is odd, is how different each Steam users initial capacity was. Some people have said they started at 0 - or even negative values. Mine started at 77k so I was able to fill it with 3 or 4 games, but since then my capacity has been dropping (by using boosts) until now it's at 0. So If you redeem that game worth 30000 points but have a capacity of only 100 - you'll lose 29900 points for that game.

Yup, I understand that. What I don'T understand is that I don't have the option to redeem the points at all. It just keep saying that I reached the capacity and that I have to wait for the next day. Perhaps the points from acheivs are somehow claimed automatically each day when I get the 100 daily capacity or whatever the hell :D
Not that it matters, I have enough tokens to grab the Hare emote and to level up my badge a few times, can't reach the discount voucher so no point bothering with this event.

Have you used the boost button? So either you have 0 capacity, or it's filled to capacity - boosting will use 1000, converting to tokens, allowing you to fill up to capacity again. Sounds like your capacity is at 0 now though, if it's saying wait till tomorrow.

Somehow I had enough at the start of this event to make the "level 2000" badge, so I assume it's legitimate although I dunno the details. Maybe counting money spent on Steam, over some period of time. Maybe those guys are traders, buying and selling a lot of stuff? No clue at all.
I suspect for some of the crazy big spenders on Steam $10k USD isn't enough money even to notice... :) Look at the previous Summer / Winter sale badges for some "real money" being wasted... :)

You still get kind of a good deal. Assuming you participate every day, you can reach a total of 14340 tokens for free with the daily 100 capacity increase (including yesterday's and today's increases). Thus, you only need to spend $5.70 to get your discount

The capacity is 100/day. That increase apparently means "you can add another 100 the next day", not "you can add [number of day × 100] each day." So, you can get 1000 in total by the end for free. Enough to buy an entire background!
