Yes, your other entries for a game are removed (and your points returned) when you win a copy.
But only at the time of winning. If you (deliberately or accidentally) join more after winning but before activating and synchronizing, you will have to manually remove those particular entries.

Not exactly, SteamGift removes the entries for the games you win here, ESGST removes the entries for the games you own no matter where you got those.

It's a nice feature to avoid multiple wins because of multiple entries for the same game and the points of the removed entries are given back. One can't be all the time ready and online to see a win and remove the entries of the same giveaways one has entered. ;-)
