People don't go out that much on July 4. They BBQ at home and light some fireworks, or sometimes go to a local fireworks display in their town (but that only takes a couple hours in the evening). Sometimes there are parades in towns too. Still, it's definitely not one of the most "away from home" holidays, and people are extremely internet-connected these days through cellphones, tablets, and laptops anyway. And we're not talking about the general population anyway, we're talking about gamers. Gamers will be checking Steam because they know the summer sale could happen any day now.
I think it's as likely to be released on a holiday when people are home from work and maybe have more chance to be on Steam, as it is to be released on a work day when many will not have their eyes on Steam.

Well, Steam Mobile App and the fact that someone is more likely to make an impulse buy while drunk could be a good reason why it may start today. I'd say that is Steams best bet from a money making standpoint. And the long they let GMG, GoG, and Amazon have their sales, the more money they lose at the end of the day. Either way, I feel pretty confident that the sale will happen between now and Christmas time.

There's always the CHANCE it'll be today, but just because bundles have been added 'recently' doesn't mean OMG SALEZ TOMORO! We all know it's soon, but soon doesn't mean tomorrow, it could be any day soon.

I'm sure it's irritating to see these repeating threads, but I'm always amused at the personality type that takes it so personally that they enter the thread and comment disparagingly to those that are merely excited.
I don't really care one way or the other, but it reminds me of a neighbor that gets invited to a historically ripping neighborhood party that happens each year, and decides to stay home and complain about the neighbors who are excited and talking about all the food and booze they're going to bring to the party.
Then they call the cops over and over the day of the party.
Shrug. I guess when I see something that I don't like, I just let it go. Unless it's a fun theoretical argument where it might produce some good discussion (and I might learn something), or if someone is shitting in my own yard.
It's also somewhat amusing that folks that come in to complain about these threads don't see how they too, could be annoying and repetitive. It's pretty awesome.
