Entirely curious, but how do the people of Steamgifts choose how to or not use the whitelist feature? Mine is either a very good ratio of Ga's to wins, by either amount or quality, or a decent one and active in the forums, or a decent one and a fun event. And because I seem to not be able to create a discussion without a GA, here one is for Runaway: A Twist of Fate. Level 2 restriction.
EDIT: GA over.

If you do not use the whitelist feature, why not?

I have no one on my whitelist. Yet.

My blacklist is completely empty as well.

I usually just white list people that I find interesting. Either a funny comment, a funny description on a giveway, a giveaway I really liked, stuff like that. Basically everytime I have any reason to go to someone's profile, I'll either whitelist or blacklist the person accordingly.

I think i prefer the spiders and not the hookers. consider who has more diseases...
and i don't use the B/W lists. private links and groups usually work fine.

I prefer the spiders for completely different reasons.

I... actually find them cute.

I don't make a special list for giveaways when I would never use it in the first place. The idea of both the whitelist and blacklist are... Horrible.

active ppl I know and like. I don't tend to add ppl I don't recognize just because they have good ratio - someone may have a great ratio and be a total dick, someone may have 1:1 ratio but be a great and helpful user ;)

I'd Whitelist any regular and helpful users, as well as those that are friendly and generous to contribute to the community. Blacklist, in the other hand, is reserved for the beggars, regifters and other lawbreakers. Pretty standard, I guess. Oh, and thanks for the giveaway! ^^

Pretty much combo what zelghadis said and JustinSane059 mentioned in regards to users being overly generous and/or very friendly.

Thanks for the giveaway DesertMouse1 !

At first I added people from Bundle Quest and some irl/semi-irl friends. Then I started adding people from forums - people who are fd munny, helpful, had a nice talk on the forums (there are quite a few people in the last category :) ) . or amazed me, in some way. Speaking of amazement, now I recall that my first whitelisted was actually breaking the rules some time ago, maybe you remember the case - an user made a topic asking if regifting allowed or note because his friends were talling him it's forbidden. Turned out he gave his first win to his friend a long (?) time ago, and realizing it was against the rules his first reaction was " Where can I report myself". And really asked somebody to report him, because he deserved - meanwhile others also found his honesty deserves some prize, so he got the game from a random awesome citizen of SG as we.
So I feel like I'm bursting the bubble for some people: I don't only care about your level or ratio - you can be generous and that's a good thing, but the way you act, communicate and behave on Steamgifts is more important for me. There are cool people with low level and high level unbearable buttheads, I can't judge based only on your level :)

Nay, it was when support was quite slow. He asked somebody to report him, but a few minutes later he got the game he missed from his account, so the "reporter" dropped the report because the fault was fixed :) The best thing was that noone wanted to report him as far as I know - we regularly see people breaking the rules, but somebody who can face his faults and not trying to dodge the consequences - it's something! :)

That's really nice. Can you PM me the name on steam so I can whitelist that person, or here publicly if they don't mind being put on the spot?:)

Adam doesn't remember, but I do. mclintock was the user. Also, if this classifies as 'calling out', I'll gladly remove the name.

I'd say it's less calling out and more "looking out" for a good sger:) Thanks for the name.

In this case, it's not considered "calling out."

As a side note, SG Staff don't (usually) enjoy punishing people, so it's nice when users fix their own errors. Also, those who "turn themselves in" get the help of Support in working out their problems.

Sometimes, however, a user will "do it to themselves" in such a way as to make the whole thing hillarious.

Because I'm lazy as fuck. That's why. But I added some people to my whitelist, it's all people I tolerate the most out of this community <3

I'm just lazy. One beautiful day I will finish adding all the people I want to my whitelist and then I will give away a bunch of copies for bad rats <3

My whitelist has about 60 names and they're all there because I respect them. I never add people based solely on the amount of games they've gifted.

My blacklist, on the other hand, does contain a good number of leechers (I consider that anyone with a ratio of something like 100 won/20 gifted) unless they're awesome in other ways. Not everyone can afford to give away games all the time, or to give away non-bundle/cheap games, so I do take that into account.
