I never understood the point of randomly asking people (even people who are known to give away stuff) for anything for free. Where does the sense of entitlement come from? I mean don't get me wrong, I was super excited when I broke the 100$ limit so I could join steamgifts. Ever since I heard about it on reddit I wanted to join, but I would never approach someone, be it on steam or irl, and ask hey can you give me xxxx. I guess I was just raised with manners. lol.

I'm just wondering...how did you break the $100 limit with 12 games.

it seems he's got a scamming account too. . . good eye. 1.3 hours on the indie bundle games. . . Might be the same guy who added me. nvm seems push is an add on account to this guy. . . seeing as his friend and his other friend. . . or his other friend have all been active but don't play games. . .

MagikaGaming or whatever that name was was an indie developer who gave me a game from reddit off a nonsteam platform, will gladly give you the link to reddit so you can confirm. The1nk is someone I met off galaxy online 2, a fb game. Jesus, because I used the find friends from facebook now I'm a scammer? What would you like me to do to prove I'm legit? I just joined this site and think it's amazing, I dont want a bad reputation here.

The THQ humble bundle, I was given it as an early xmas present by my mom. I'm a single dad of 3 (1's grown and out on her own), so I don't really ever get to spend money on myself. The thq bundle comes up as being worth 150$ at individual prices, which is apparently how steamgifts counted it. Because prior to getting it my account balance was 4.99 for Lucid which I got from a reddit thread giveaway.
Probably gonna get some heat from people thinking I'm taking advantage but as far as I can tell I'm not breaking any rules even though the actual dollar ammount spent on my steam is 11$. At least I hope I'm not because I really view this site as my chance to maybe get a game or two I really want and can't afford.

No, it is just that I do not understand something.
You registered 2 months ago according to the steamgifts profile.
The THQ Humble bundle came out like a couple of days ago.
All of your other games are mostly free (such as TF2, Star Trek Online, and Microsoft Flight.
I am just wondering, how the hell did you register 2 months ago and get $100 worth of games with just Lucid.
Comment has been collapsed.
I tried to register a couple months ago, when I first heard about the site on reddit. That's how I found out about the 100$ limit. It didnt let me actually join then, so I'm not sure why it lists that date as my signup date. If you want I'll screencap my entries page so you can see I just became active on the site, the day I got the thq bundle.

I did not know about the part of where you can register for the website but you can't join.
Don't mind me then.

Damn, why do most beggars and scammers have to write in such incomprehensible ways. Had to read it 2-3 times to understand what he/she/it is saying.
This sorta reminds me of the time some random person added me and started trying to convince me that we met "that one time" in TF2. Then when that failed he started claiming that he gifted me something which came completely out of nowhere. And THEN of course he went with the usual crybaby "I reprt u!" finisher. Was a funny conversation but would have been easier on the eyes if he used at least SOME grammar. :D
Comment has been collapsed.
Actually, I've read recently that scammers (such as 419 scammers) use bad grammar and language - on purpose.
The idea is that that's the easiest way to get rid of all the intelligent people who can see through the scam, without (and this is the key point) wasting much time on them.
What you're left with are naive people who you have a chance of scamming. Whether it's true or not, I don't know, but it does sound interesting.

well look at those prince of nigeria scams. they use poor grammer to weed people out.

Actually I think it's more about the 'copy paste' mentality. I actually got an old fashioned honest to god Nigerian SNAIL MAIL scam. Typed on a typewriter and everything. It's actually kind of amazing to look at it. But it's literally a 'physical' copy and paste from stuff on the internet. These people are just recycling whatever is out there because they believe it 'works'.

I randomly join steam chats when im bit lonely and wat not to see what ppl are talkin about, I try to paste my left over bundle keys before i leave. I always get ppl adding asking for more but the last time i did it some one who ninja'ed a key to a game i posted the name of added me to say the game was bad and i should give them something else or something would happen to me... :S

Nobody ever adds me to beg for games. Even scammers are avoiding me :(

Thanks for the offer but im ok now. If i ever change my mind ill send you a friend request and delete you so that you can add me later

This has nothing to do with what anyone "deserves". It DOES have to do with the rules of the site which stipulate that people are not to be called out. If there is a problem with a member (which this beggar likely is) then it should be handled privately with support.
Additionally, you like many here fail to make any distinction between begging and scamming. There is a world of difference, with the kind of behavior that is offensive to the SG community in particular (fake giveaways, not gifting games that have been won, etc) falling somewhere in the middle.
I'll thank you to keep your hands to yourself unless you want to have but a stump when your arm comes back from my side of the monitor.

Do not call out submitters in giveaways
^^ that rule was meant to apply to giveaways and it states it quite clearly. does this page look like a giveaway to you??
Additionally, you like many here fail to realize that when begging is done under false pretenses then it becomes scamming, especially given the relative anonymity of the internet. As I've already pointed out twice in this thread, they do not have to be 2 different things.
Comment has been collapsed.
you are forgiven for not knowing about this seven month thread
and also, you may want to read the faqs again or just this part
"Please do not call out users in the forum or chat. Submit a ticket in the Support Forum."
agreed with you on the second point though but i'm not sure how to tell the difference between the begging and scamming by begging. though begging is not allowed in the sg community anyways so either way, he committed a fault
Comment has been collapsed.
fair enough, but if it's buried in an obscure forum thread then how is anyone supposed to read it? also, in the interest of fair and reasonable rules, where then do we draw the line between a simple spirited debate, and censorship??
additionally, and quite possibly more importantly, if the support staff hasn't even touched/addressed the ticket I opened 2 weeks ago then why should that give me or anyone else the confidence that they will handle issues properly?

One of my pet peeves on SG is that there are so many of these stray threads with official rules, but if they ever do get stickied, its only for a few days at most. They need to be kept where they're easy to find, and the one permanent sticky doesn't list all of them.
Comment has been collapsed.
This thread is linked straight off of the FAQ, which is linked from the master sticky and at the bottom of every page, actually.

wow bro. you mad. going off the rails cursing some guy out because he is begging you for stuff seems a bit excessive. I'm not sure how this is a scam. It's just a guy begging for games.
Also "you know what this account is about to be banned and I'm having steam ping your id" reminds me of kids on xbox live who scream "MY DAD WORKS FOR MICROSOFT! U GUNA GET BANNED!"

With all the "my friend" it was like a russian with too much vodka in his blood.

Scammers/beggars never add me :/ in a weird way I want them to simply so I can troll them...
Comment has been collapsed.
I didn't do much trading until recently but this is so true. I had 2 scammers/impersonators add me recently. Not coincidentally, both of them random added me without posting in my trading thread (despite my highly visible disclaimer at the top not to do so), and both of them had no Steamtrades account (and therefore no feedback) as well as private Steam profiles.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yea but I don't have anything to trade :| so can't really justify posting on ST unless it was a case of 'Hey, someone try and scam me' as a thread which I reckon would get closed pretty quick and/or suspension for my account...

rofl. . . I was pissed off. . . Plus I do actively search for abusers of steam gifts. . . but yeah I'm not really. . . Just pushing to see if it came from steam gifts or not, which it didn't. I was looking for people selling gifts won at the time so it came across my mind.
Comment has been collapsed.
I totally agree. While begging is a bit annoying, unless they are highly persistent about it it's nowhere near the same level as scamming or hacking or even trading/selling games you won on SteamGifts
Some people in this thread, including the OP need to get some perspective.
