Tackle the day? Normally A - my "partneress" (this is a term I coined as an alternative to "girlfriend", which to me sounds too juvenile and temporary).
Do "girlfriend" and "boyfriend" sound right to you when they live together for more than 10 years and have a child? Sounds odd to me, but maybe it's because I'm not a native English speaker...
