■ Minimal allowable price

What

Wasn't the minimal price something like 1 buck?

There is a giveaway going at the moment, and it does show 1p.

[Edit] like Mihey says, probably farming.

looks like dev changed price from 1$ to 20$ for farming cv here, lol

HOLY-

I can't decide if that's pathetic or genius.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I wouldn't say it's genius given that if the dev brings back the price to 1$ the CV will also drop with that so it won't make any difference. He would have to leave it at 20$ and lose potential achievement hoarder purchases.

100$ direct fee, so he need to generate 2000 steam keys (for free!) and sell them for 0,05$/1key to get money back. No need to return 1$ price. With 20$ in steam store he will sell 2000 keys in few hours.

Wasn't Valve going to implement a limit on keys devs can generate about half a year ago (maybe even more than that). The thing where devs needed to make a certain number of sales on the store to generate a certain number of keys. Or did they completely drop that for some reason and devs can generate any amount of keys.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

not any amount, but 2000-3000 keys without any problems.
Check any GoGoTrash bundle
https://www.steamgifts.com/discussions/search?q=gogo
I don't think games from those bundles have sales in steam store xD

Just looked it up and yeah seems like you're correct. It does say devs shouldn't give "worse deals" for steam purchases and that Valve will remove the ability to generate keys if you do that but that's listed under "rules and guidelines" together with "don't sell keys in bulk" so it's probably not enforced at all.

problem is, he will lose the cv when he drops the price again to sell his game^^

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

why he will drop the price?
He will get his 100$ back and make some profits (only with selling steam keys).
Now he can make another "game" - Achievement Hunter: Cat, Achievement Hunter: Dog, Achievement Hunter: Fish, Achievement Hunter: Anything

hmmm, you might be right. all the people will love to see this "gem" on indigala with some other games for few bucks cause they save sooo much money. probably he should keep it this way for profit

Problem is, he will lose all the CV when SG makes the game worth $0 :) Didn't they do that in the past couple weeks for another game where the dev did the same thing here?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Those are both from a year ago. I think I remember it happened again within the past couple weeks.

Edit: I tried searching, but I can't find it. It could have been longer than a coupe weeks. I think the dev created a lot of DLC that was really expensive and was creating giveaways here.

A fem dev did that with a cheap game + different cheap DLC and then a 50$ DLC. Maybe 1-2 months ago.
And a other dev did it too a few weeks ago.
I am too lazy to look into my reports.
They are set to free... "problem" solved

I wish all the scumbags who makes games like this would get insta banned from Steam. There is enough shit on the steam store without untalented fucks trying to sell achievements on there aswell.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Well, dunno how effective banning from Steam is.
I give it a 50/50 chance this is the same folks who spammed the "Achievement hunter" things before they got booted off the store.

  • Different achievements system. "Achievement Hunter" games was with miner and 80% CPU load and need farm achievements 2 hours. In "Achievement Collector" need only start and close game.
  • "Achievement Hunter" games newer was on free giveaways, but "Achievement Collector" is on giveaway_su site.
  • Different price politics. "Achievement Hunter" was cheap in Steam.
  • Probably different assets ("Achievement Hunter" games always use the same asset)

Why these retards persist in releasing crappy "games" instead of a simple HTML page with a big "UNLOCK ALL ACHIEVEMENTS" button, I'll never know.

Amazing art skills though, almost on par with those of my 3-years-old niece.

Well obviously there's a market for it. But instead of doing what any professional would do, which is releasing a piece of software that easily unlocks thousands of achievements, and market said software as such, they try to pass their asset-flip-with-an-achivement-script-in-it as a game. Why go to such ends while there is a software section on Steam? They could very well exploit the achievement whores market while being totally professional about it but no, these kids have to do it in the most childish way possible, by trying to exploit the system :/

Well they're even more retarded than I think then. They obviously know how to use the Steam API to enable achivements, but they don't know how to make a basic web page with a button on it? It literally takes 5 minutes of googling how to do it and less than 2 to write it :/

By all means, go for it, maybe the asset flippers will copy you and we'll see less of their crap on Steam :x

I'm betting the "achievement unlock" script is just another asset they flip.
I mean, they can't even get that working to unlock everything half the time, if you look at the forum posts.
Looking at those forum posts also makes you stupid. I can tell from experience. Then again, I do let my morbid fascinations get the better of me too easily

yes but you would play the pirated ps game.

what ps, like the first playstation? i hope they told people how to play them. i know ps1 you could do the swap trick but after that i'm pretty sure you needed a chip to play them.

Both Playstation 1 and 2, they usually knew people who could install those chips as well.

Indie scene is officially dead. Even good products can't earn money, because gamers don't give a shit about indie games anymore, thanks to this crap flood. Watched a game journo video blog on the matter yesterday.

Should SG have 0CV for games that Steam is learning about?

No because like even half of indiegala bundles are games that steam is learning about, and by far not all are like this example.

it's because there are like 100 steam users that buy everything on release no matter what you price it. if you are going to make x sales no matter what why make $6 when you can make $20 so i guess ocd is getting expensive.

On AStats I saw people with 800k "achievements", funny thing we're close on the ladder, while I have only 8640. Achievement ranking system works, it's what Steam needs, and inevitably they will introduce it, when it will be too late, like with quality control.
