This place is as good as any to ask.

I want to buy something for a friend but have it sent to them, is that possible? All the ebay shops i looked seem to only send to the paypal adress.

no. ask first and agree with the seller about all the terms and after that you buy

Set up a second address on your paypal account for where you want it sent.
