Here's a very informative and interesting post I found relating to the subject- https://www.reddit.com/r/humblebundles/comments/8xd4fz/how_humblebundle_created_the_bundle_market_and/
Worth a read.

No. It isn't.
It wasn't the first time someone said this on like the fourth bundle they ever made.
It wasn't the last hundred times someone suggested a good thing was secretly dying.
It won't be, the next hundred times someone says HB / steam / GOG / your favourite MMO / etc is 'dying'.
Things fluctuate. People get bored of what is being offered. Not every week is as good as the last.
This is the "so that weather, eh?" conversation piece of online forums :P

Seems about the same to me. Get the monthly if you want the main item, otherwise don't gamble. I buy the monthly once a year on average, and the only reason I didn't get the previous one is AC: Origins wasn't available for my platform. As for the regular bundles, I slowed down my purchases as I filled out my library. I hardly notice when there's no gaming bundle on any more. Is it possible you just have all the games you want now?

July looks until now brilliant.
No one dies...just to much mimimi...

Looks like it, i just refunded the las month bundle (COD) because they sent me a key that is not even for my region, and they didn't admite it... Such a horrendous experience.

You mean, why i use that word? Hahaha. In my country is pretty common. š

...basically you are saying, more Power to Valve. But competition is a good and important thing, Origin tried to push with their Origin Acces, EPIC is currently stepping up and with Stadia in November things will be even more interessting (since you don't need even a PC or console anymore).
So let's all agree, not to agree.
PS: If you don't like non-steam bundles, you can skip them, where is the big harm?
Comment has been collapsed.
Well you are free to think that, but where is the prove that HB does bad when they do non-steam bundles? Maybe it even attracts more new customers to start a sub because they see an AAA headline title. Customers who maybe don't care about the client, simply don't like steam or even think a different client is more superior or convenient than steam. And for HB diversiting their portfolio is a smart move, there are enough steam bundles outside the monthly loop. Even the book and comic bundle are smart, they have nothing to lose to offer them.
It feels like, you see this subject very narrowed from your own view, which might received as "Fanboy-Behaviorism".

I wouldn't call it Steam fetishism, it's an understandable reaction. After all, Steam keys are valued more than Uplay or Origin keys on the trading market, so people will obviously be more interested in Steam keys.
But not having DRM-free options anymore is bad indeed.

I stopped paying mind to Humble when they stopped being about indie games of worth and started just trying to sell as many keys as they could manage.
They're just trying to sell off all the stuff they can - which is fine for a business that calls itself a store. It just feels disappointing when the place you used to go for a good deal on independent gaming titles of note becomes the home of garbage games milled out by massive corporate entities.
Give me another They Bleed Pixels not another Assassin's Creed. Show me Braid, not COD. But they cannot do that.
They cannot, cause now it is about an obligation to maintain sales numbers, cannot lose those subscribers. Gotta follow the hot trends with the triple-As, screw those games people used to come to the site for.
It's like D&D, you start with you and two buddies all deeply interested in having fun but following the rules so it is all fair. Then you get another guy who is more interested in kicking ass, not having his ass kicked - they only want to win. But because he stands alone in that perspective nothing changes. Then he recruits a buddy to join in, now half the players are about the rules but half only want to kick ass awesomely and bang chicks. Then buddy's girlfriend starts coming and everyone has to tiptoe around her character and we have to start fudging rules to make sure she's not upset. Then the D&D isn't fun anymore because it isn't about having fun fairly, it is just about the players winning to keep them from being upset.
Every scene has it, a critical mass of popularity that eventually subverts its fundamental goals and character. Humble passed that tipping point at least a year ago, rue it, lament it, it comes for your interests all the same... The need to appease.

Judging by this thread, i'd estimate that half of the users here would disagree with you.

The May bundle had a single game Assassin's Creed, furthermore Wandersong, Finding Paradise, Monster Prom, The Journey Down: Chapter Three, Do Not Feed the Monkeys, Iām not a Monster. While the last game was free at a point, the games average out 91.5% reviews. I'm not exactly sure what are you implying in your quoted phrase, because the very bundle you are complaining about is absolutely crammed with top quality indies.
You are really confusing. Do you judge the whole bundle based on the first reveal ( that also revealed Wandersong) even after knowing what they had in it? Or you literally want Braid and They Bleed Pixels and nothing else, or just a sidescrolling platformer?

the only thing I can say is that the game bundling cycle perfectly fitted my gaming reboot cycle, providing me with hundreds of cheap and excellent games when I needed them.
now I'm each and every day needing less cheap and excellent games, if any at all, so I don't really bother the demise of game bundling. it's been so long since there are 1 or 2 good freebies per month, that they provide me more than enough digital backlog.

I wanna agree but... here's the catch.
I have 2000+ games on Steam, partially thanks to humble bundle, fanatical and others. I still have to play at least 1000 of those for the first time ever.
Does that mean that, when I look at the new humble offer, instead of being "yay more cool indie games I've not even heard of" I'm reacting as "meh, more games that are not on my limited wish-list so I probably won't play it now anyway". It's probably a part of the equation. If my steam library was ~100 games tops, I'd buy every monthly just to wider my selection and see what I like.
Sure, another part is games being less wanted in general than back in time of "indie golden age", but tbh I went back to some of those indie hits of yesteryear and taking another look, some of those games are really stupid and wouldn't get anywhere near that level of recognition today in a tighter competition, as they did back then just thanks to being selected to release on steam while it was a closed market.

100% This
I don't have anywhere near as many games as you do, but... I can relate. This time last year, I had very few games on my account. Now I have 400+ and 80-90% of those are freebies or bundled. The other 10-20% I bought because I really wanted them. If you have a lot of games already, you're definitely going to be more choosy. I'm already there. I used to put them all on there because wth, I might play them at some stage, now I pick and choose a bit more.

I think your perspective is spot-on. I have more games that I can probably play in the next 5 years. I still keep collecting them, but now that I have so many, I started to get a lot more choosy about what bundles I buy (with the exception of what I get specifically to be a good group member on SG, i.e., things that I know other people are interested in, but I may not be).
We've all turned into virtual hoarders, and turned collecting games into a game. Hey, it's fun, and I still absolutely enjoy being part of it, but it has definitely affected the way people (especially on SG) view their game collections as well as the value of the games themselves. The current system isn't likely sustainable forever...some day, we'll be talking about all of this the way we do MySpace today. š But while it's all still here and still fun, I'm going to keep being a part of it, and will try not to be bitter when the ride finally comes to an end. We'll all be looking at the next cool thing at that point.
In the meantime, I'm gonna ride this pony 'til it drops. š

Man, I think you have too many games on your steam account =)

I'm gonna be that guy and say that it's fairly normal. After all, almost all decent games have been bundled already and if you want them to keep operating they'll have to resort on whatever it's available. Also, some monthlies have been really strong and they have been consistently giving AAA games along with general trash. As much as BO4 is shit, it's still an AAA game after all.
On a more personal note, i'd add that people have been spoiled too much. We can't ask bundle sites to topple themselves every time and give a bunch of awesome stuff for a few bucks. No wonder that some developers don't want to associate with bundle sites, as games will lose value very quickly and nobody would pay full price (or even discounted) for a game that has been bundled before.
Besides, don't we all have a pretty long backlog already?
Comment has been collapsed.
No, HB's been dead a long time. Sometimes seems to be trying to breathe from the grave, but it's a passing thing and you soon notice the earth above it.
Few at this point will remember that before there were two bundles a week (Tuesday and Thursday), and now perfectly go weeks without bundles.

besides the past two Monthlies being shit with AC: Origins and now a dead game COD4, have you guys noticed the lack of game bundles? we have lots of book bundles, a software bundle and no games... wtf is going on?
i thought it was because of the Summer Sale but i don't believe in coincidences and the lack of quality is not a new issue
