im really intrigued after having paid my last full price game in 2016 (DOOM) to get Prey asap, cause i read a lot about System Shock 2 and i love it and it reads that it's not so infested by all the new FPS mechanics but more the older ones (YAY!). so what do you say?

I would say wait haven't played it yet but Bethesda games usually go on sale for -50% in a month or so. Also by not playing it right away you will avoid some issues that a newly released game has like bugs, stuttering etc.

You saw how fast DOOM went to 50%, or even more after a while. That being said, it's a matter of patience vs your available funds.
My comment is only price wise, as I don't have any opinion for the game per se.

If you like Doom, you should give Painkiller a try. Its a type of game that if you are not killing something for 10 seconds, you are playing that game wrong. Also Wolfenstein: New Order, but only on difficulty level uber (trust me, on lower difficulties is just boring) and Crysis 2 for maximum killing spree.

But if you do enjoy unconventional shooters who are lots of fun, give your Bioshock collection or Black Mesa a try.

Also definetely Metro series (you have them all) and Spec Ops line for fine shooting and awesome storylines.

Once you finish all of them, if you are not fed up with playing FPS, you should buy Prey :D

If you really want to play System Shock 3, then yes; Prey remake is essentially that.

Unless from a smaller studio that made an excellent game you want to support!
I still regret nothing getting This War of Mine and Planet Coaster full price, in fact they're two of the best games I own to this day.

But yeah, with Bethesda wait for the sales ._.

Another option - buy 2 copy of a good game with 50% price and gift second copy to a friend - (s)he will be happy)

I sometimes buy smaller excellent games made by indie studios I want to support for 33% off. In veeeeery rare occasions for 10% off. My statement is a princicple for me.

I wouldn't buy for full price from Steam store, keystores are your friends. But it is a very good game.

For steam price - No. Just get it on GMG for £31.99 or somewhere else. Game is great. For me it's like a mix of Dead Space+Bioshock. Didn't play System Shock, so can't say anything about that. Also, i love variety of weapons, grenades, skills that u can learn in game.

Get it. Seriously. It's a technically amazingly running game, the story and escpecially the multiple endings are worth your time and also the game is kind of a challenge. Just think of it as a mixture of Bioshock and Dark Souls. It's definitely worth the price point, hence the very positive steam reviews. I am very critical about purchasing games like these and was happily surprised about the game's quality.

If you can't wait to play it and it will make you feel good then why not? But if it is just a hype fueled whim that is going to be added to your backlog then it's a no.

I think the only games worth buying close to launch are multiplayer ones (that I tend to avoid) and games from developers you wish to support.

from developers

From publishers. The devs have already been paid and done by the time a game has shipped and you buy it.

(AAA, not Indie)

That's a very backwards way of looking at it. "The devs have already been paid so why support the game as all the money goes to the publisher". Yes, to then invest in the next development cycle and to keep the developers in the job. The exact same process that allowed them to be paid during development for that first game.

I do not use the two words interchangeably so I really mean developers… and mostly indie companies.

Although sometimes I dabble in something from big publishers, AAA games are not really my scene and never at full price.

Else, no.

You have 2,480 games.
Why don't you work on that backlog a little first. You can play this game later when it's 75% off.

Always wait. A game is just as fun x months from now as it would be now. And often, at least for me, it is more fun, because by then it plays better because I have afforded better hardware with the money I've not wasted buying games when they are new..

No. Unless you have the absolute need to play it at this very moment (which, trust me, nobody ever does), don't buy full price.

Its a really awesome game imo, and just 31 euros at Instant Gaming. Thats where I got it, might be cheaper somewhere else though.

No one can answer for you really. How bad do you want to play it, do you have plenty of cash available, etc?

Imo waiting sucks if you really want to play it, but its the smartest thing to do in terms of money
