"The Event" TV series (may contain SPOILERS)

Watched all of Dexter while it was running.
Finally started watching Breaking Bad the other day and am already up to the fourth season.

There's a lot of similarities in the basic theme (a top-of-the-field professional with a giant secret kept from everyone, ruining all his relationships). And if you could only watch one, it'd be a tough decision. But since you already had a disappointing ending (I don't know "The Event", but I assume that's the case from your post), of the two, I'll recommend Breaking Bad. From the small bits of ancillary chatter I hear, it didn't have a disappointing ending, where I know that Dexter unfortunately did. Both shows have some great episodes though, so the ride will be fun either way.

I started to watch The Event when it was new because the concept intrigued me. But somewhere along the first handful of episodes, even I couldn't continue to suspend reality for all the gaping plot holes and incredulous story they were trying to tell. Something about the alien people was the last straw for me (but can't remember what it was now). A friend told me it got way better during its last few episodes but I never made it back to watch more.

To answer one of your questions, its definitely not coming back for a 2nd season. As for speculations and what not, its been too long since I seen it and I only remember being annoyed with it by the time I stopped watching so not much to say. Oh, the brunette who was on the run in every episode was super hot. I do remember that still :).

Breaking Bad. I like Dexter too but Breaking Bad is awesome!

I don't think I ever made it through the entire first season of The Event due to the bad acting, but if you like conspiracy series I highly recommend The Prisoner. It's a mini-series from 2009, a remake of the cult british series from the 60's. In my opinion it's one of those shows that makes you question everything and everyone I know who've watched it (or the original british version) have had nightmares about "The Village" after they've seen it.

I still want Terra Nova season 2. I can't find any theories and it obviously won't get a second season. If they know the show is about to end, they shouldn't fucking leave cliffhangers >_>

The Event had hilarious moments. Like when i stopped believing that Blair Underwood was Cuban because he walked out of an interview with that black man walk that's uniquely american.

I say go Dexter because after Breaking Bad going to Dexter will be disappointing after a few seasons.

if you haven't seen Weeds buy the DVDs.. and burn them.. that show is terrible.

I started watching the show, but when the main guy is one of the worst actors of all time, I just couldnt keep going.

Both Dexter and Breaking Bad are good, but I'd go with breaking bad so it is not spoiled for you.
