I picked up the first one since there's a couple mods i've wanted to play that require it. In regards to your question, when I first played FC2 I thought it was so amazing, but then after playing other similar open world games I went back and I was wondering why I liked it so much before.

Far Cry 2 is a very good example for a game with a great concept that was completely destroyed by a few stupid design decisions. The open world is huge, the setting is nice, the graphics were pretty awesome for its time. But there are two things that really ruined it for me:
Enemies respawn immediately. That means if you clean a checkpoint, drive a tiny bit further, notice you took the wrong way and drive back - bam everyone you just killed is alive again. That makes it completely pointless to fight any enemies that aren't mission related and in the end I just drove past them and ignored them.
The world is completely lifeless as it is centered around the player. There is supposed to be a civil war, but there are no civilians, neither are there factions fighting each other. Every single person you'll see outside of cities is trying to kill you and only you. No fighting between factions, no civilians that get harmed or that you could save, nothing. Just a bunch of 'enemies'.
If you can look past these two (imo huge) flaws it's a decent game though.

Emptier??? LoL, it had three times more stuff to do than Far Cry 2. It's actually got animals that try to kill you or at least run way from you(unlike those mentally retarded zebras from Far Cry 2), the secondary quests are actually fun, the environment is mind blowingly beautiful and it has no glaring issues, the story is actually interesting and you give a damn about the characters. There is no comparison.

Not the best game in the world, its actually the worst one in the series, by far, but 2.5 euro is nothing in this day and age. I'd say buy it.

Its on sale on Steam for $2.49 (-75% off), and I'm wondering if its still worth it. I already have the first one (as yet unplayed, like so much of my Steam library) and I have the third one on 360 (also unplayed). I know the second game had some pretty mixed reviews, but is it worth it? Or would I be better off skipping the second one entirely?
Thanks for your time.
