In case some of you haven't heard, or cared. there was another shooting in Jacksonville Florida. This time during a Madden tournament. 11 wounded and 2 dead. One of them the shooter.

Great. Just what we need. Another shooting. And this time at a video game tournament. You just KNOW the advocates will just come out of the woodwork with their evangelistic cries about banning video games because they make people violent.

How about, instead of advocating that, jump on the backs of your local leaders and senators to enforce REAL gun control?

I swear, for the next 6 months we are going to be bombarded with news articles by advocates that claim video games make people violent. What? Did mankind live in peace and harmony before the invention of the video game? Be fore the invention of the movie or television set? Or the invention of the gun? As George Carlin once said- I bet the Spanish Inquisition must have come up as a bad episode of Gilligan's Island.

Don't get me wrong. I do feel bad for the innocent guy that got killed and the others that got wounded, but this has GOT to come to an end somewhere.

Edit- Added a couple of small GA's for you all for reading this.

In Poland, it's not easy to buy a gun. One needs to take a physical and psychological tests and police screening. So far, no mass shooting occured. Heck even any shooting is extremely rare.
See any pattern here?

Obviously Poland has no shootings since it's got Vidya games about swords and monsters... so you guys beat each other with swords or bite each other to death there.
You know, like US-residents tell you will happen if you take guns away. But keep those super super super-dangerous vidya games.

Of course we expect we expect Poland to revert to a Steampunk society in a year or 2.

That's not true. Since introduction of new version of gun law in 2011 (Ustawa o broni i amunicji) anyone of legal age can buy and own black powder separate loading firearms produced before 1885 or functional replicas of them. No screening, no registration, no permits. Nothing.

Contrary to what gun-regulators want you to believe, streets in Poland don't look like Wild West movie with John Waynes on every corner p

Have you ever heard about mass shooting with split ignition black gun powder rifle? Yes, these guns need to either be antiques or replicas of guns made before 1885 and. So, it's still true. It is Not possible to have a gun without a licence that would be used for mass shooting or even aimed shooting.

Do not underappreciate those antiques. I don't see a reason why one couldn't use one in scenarios you mention with a success.

Accuracy? They are accurate. By 1885 it's no longer muskets. Barrel is bored and bullets are much better fitting the diameter of the barrel.
(Altough I admit modern rifle with modern ammunition gets better the further the target distance grow)

Rate of fire? Quite decent actually. All it takes is swapping pre-loaded revolver type cylinders after firing all chambers. There were even rifles made utilizing revolver design.

So they are perfectly suitable to the task, freely available for the past 7 years and no incidents I've heard of. Maybe society is not that terrible after all and can be trusted to responsibly own firearms?

To be completly clear, I wouldn't like to get rid of licenses entirely, but change the approach. From current state, where police officer decides whom he will grant a privilege of owning a firearm, to one where officer has to have really good reason to refuse. Like not passing periodic medical exam - for obvious reasons. Or not firing enough rounds last year in shooting range - because any tool without trainig is dangerous.

It's another cry for help. A few victims. I feel bad for it, but worse stuff is happening all the time all over the world that isn't getting mentioned, and it never will. It is swept under the rug, and those on the bottom must suffer constant torment. I would rather be shot honestly than what happens to me as a sick person in America with multiple diseases and no allowances for almost anything in life because of something that isn't even my fault.

Same deal here: Nothing I can do about it. "We" made it/them like this. End of story. Just like they make it almost impossible for the weak and sick and poor to live here in the USA. Analyze ourselves, start weeding out mentally unstable, and we find the true solution inside. It is there, but those in control do not want reform. They want corruption. You reap what you sew. We have to remove the psychos from making all the rules - that's why we have this "trickle down" effect of people who are not getting their needs met. Always starts with us - not the victims problems (on the shooting side or the people killed - both are victims). Society as a whole failed here, as they failed every single other time. There are always many red flags that are overlooked, and it usually is years before it is actually acted out (takes time to "boil over" to this point - and no way for "diffusion" offered...).

Meet peoples' needs in your homeland = less people causing problems (a.k.a. everyone's reasonably "content").

It really is that Goddamn simple. Don't believe me? Try it sometime and see how pissed off at the world it makes you!

I just realise that it's quite obvious that some insanity will happen for a game called 'Madden'. This would never happen if it was a Soothe tournament, for example.
