You can always random matchmake! Or something. It is a blast with a real life friend and a controller pad. I used to think it was my worst Steam acquisition, since the single player USED to be extremely bad, but now I love it.

If there's any game you've gotta buy its Terraria!
I've recently bought Space priates and zombies and it has been fun so far.
Dungeons of Dredmor if you like old style rpgs. Trine, atom zombie smasher, magicka.
Hope you find something you like =)

Already have Terraria, Trine, AZS, Magicka and Dredmor :) Been enjoying this games too. And the steam winterhunt even promoted them to be played more!! SPAZ is it really fun?

Dungeons of Dreadmor, it is a HILARIOUS game, and very indepth. If you like roguelikes, you will LOVE it.

Limbo is fun but you finish it in 4-5 hours and its not fun to play it again since you know how to pass every stage/lvl

Since it hasn't been mentioned yet: Recettear: an Item Shop's Tale.

Though that's not in an encore sale on Steam. On Steam it's $9.99. But on GamersGate it's $6.78, and has been such consistently this entire holiday season. (Sure, Steam is cheaper when it's crazily discounted to $4.99 for a day, but what if you miss it? And Carpe Fulgur and EasyGameStation deserve the money for such a great game anyway.)

And it doesn't have Steam achievements anyway so you don't need to worry about losing out on possible prizes.
