I found x :) It is located between 44 and 9. Isn't "determine x" more accurate?

Edit: My guess would be 27.

Yes, but the loop is just repeated after 4 numbers :)

Of course I am right, I teach maths. If you don't like a problem, invent/define something that the problem is solved.

ow, no, didn't mean it like begging, after all, I said to do it fairly, not just giving it to me.

best way would probably be a new giveaway, because technically, you already solved it, so it would just be a matter of copy pasting your answer, that would not be a fair gib right?

My guess is x = 31.

Here's the assumed rule of the loop

(first digit) ^ 2 - 1 + (second digit; 0 for a single-digit number) ^ 2

We have:

80 = 9 ^ 2 - 1 + 0 ^ 2
63 = 8 ^ 2 - 1 + 0 ^ 2
44 = 6 ^ 2 - 1 + 3 ^ 2
31 = 4 ^ 2 - 1 + 4 ^ 2
9 = 3 ^ 2 - 1 + 1 ^ 2

Am I wrong to say that works but by doing that you're actually using the 9 as if it was 90? Still want you to get the game and hope you already have it but I like this puzzle, I'm interested to really know what x is :) Spot the nerd :)

If we represent all numbers with two digits (e.g., 09), we can slightly modify the rule to:

(greater digit) ^ 2 - 1 + (lower digit) ^ 2

(Here, greater and lower correspond to the actual value, not the index.)
