"Split across three hilarious Tall Tales packed with secrets and side-quests, Sea of Thieves: The Legend of Monkey Island invites pirates to meet classic characters, in a new narrative that brings the iconic locations of Monkey Island to the Sea of Thieves," Rare says."The adventure begins on Mêlée Island, where pirates can take in the sights, smells and roguish splendour of the island as they seek to uncover why everyone suddenly seems to think quite highly of self-proclaimed mighty pirate, and known poodle pacifier, Guybrush Threepwood. Something's quite clearly wrong...

"This love letter to the classic adventure game series will be available to play alone or with a crew, with three Tall Tales being added over three months as free updates for all players, starting July 20th."

It's too bad. I love the Monkey Island games but I hate Sea of Thieves. I wish they would have just made a new Monkey Island game by itself.

What is actually wrong with Sea of Thieves and what game do you compare it with?

While the last one was a weird ending, Ron Gilbert never said no to sequels.

I think the sailing is very dull. Moving/gathering chests and loot is boring AF. The sword combat is so basic and repetitive. The aiming reticule design for the rifle scope (crack in the glass) is dumb. I don't like the graphics, except for the water and water physics, which is well done. I can't imagine playing this single player, I'd die of boredom. I wouldn't compare this to any game. It's a very underwhelming pirating game.

Well, it's a matter of choice/perspective.. i completely enjoy SoT, it has created many many good (and bad) memories that Im pretty sure i will remember for the time being. Also, cmon, crack in the glass is literally genius! The cartoonish graphic is top-notch.
I would suggest buying it, IF you have friends to play the game with it's 10/10 recommended to buy even at full price. I have like a thousand hours in the game and I gotta say, if you like it, you wont leave it.
Even if you want to play it alone, ofc it's harder but it's still a blast playing through the Tall Tales and the vast content available.

Do you have Game Pass? It's free to play if you have it.

1 month thing? Thanks, but no I think threw some even away, i am right now way too busy with just the games on steam (not even mention the consoles), and the whole moving (still a lot is unfinished), a cat, and just trying to deal with daily life.

Still appreciated, i just got too much (30+ consoles which i figured it's many after you moved to something smaller). 🙂 Don't even play on my steamdeck.

What was it, EA/Origin/Ubisoft that gave away for like 2 years? Also not even managed once.

But Sea of Thieves is more like a pirate game, and with Monkey Island they are still going to make an adventure game, or they just use Guybrush as a character?

Dunno but I hope they make it more Monkey Island instead of SoT.

I can understand why people like it I just can't get into it. I'm sure the devs thought using a glass crack as a reticule was clever and unique but when I first saw it I was confused and then after realizing what it was I thought it was a bad design. Less accurate than a normal reticule.

If you like both Monkey Island and SoT I imagine this new game will be great.
