Well, i traded a region restricted copy of xcom for botanicula. I mean the guy was happy giving it to me. Its region restricted for - This is a restricted gift which can only be redeemed in these countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Republic of, Russian Federation, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine

So i mean is this region restricted version of scom equal to trash ?

and is there any way i can activate it for myself (out of region) ?

Edit - So whats the value of my xcom ? trash ?

You can activate it using a VPN (look it up) or have someone who lives in one of those countries activate it for you (but it would have to be someone you trust, obviously).

Suggestion:Don't do that.It's against steam's TOS.

And in some cases you might not be able to play the game anyway.

You know...It is called "region restricted" and "can only be redeemed in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Republic of, Russian Federation, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine"...

Find someone from one of these countries who will be willing to trade it for another game.

Read the part about SteamDB
Check if it let you run the game even if you manage to activate it (because it would be totally useless then). Then the possibility for you is to activate the game from one of these countrys by a (TRUSTED) friend. On a sidenote: why did you even agree to this trade if you are not living there?

He probably don't know what region restricted means and botnicula for x-com probably blinded him.

yeah... it's pretty much trash besides to the people living in those areas.
you're going to have a hard time a finding a person dumb enough to take some region restricted stuff off your hands.
and stuff is cheaper in those region so you're not going like the offers you're gonna get.
all in all, it's hard to trade with region restricted stuff, you pretty much have to find someone that doesn't know about it or someone that breaks steam TOS to play region restricted games.
but who knows, you might receive an amazing offer for it.

The answer is VPN, the rest figure out yourself if you don't fear for your account getting a nice ban.

No you are screwed. If you DID use a VPN to activate that version of XCOM. You need to always use a russian VPN just to run the game. There is a "onlyallowrunincountries" tag in steamdb (look at this sub)

Not sure if going offline mode will allow you to play it

very very worthless, you can use a VPN to activate it, some games will require a constant vpn though which will be pretty annoying if thats the case with you. i wouldnt advise using a VPN though because then steam can ban you. Best protip, try to get your botan back or retrade that xcom cause it wont be worth it... Should have just spent a little more to get ROW xcom
