are bot accounts that add people to scam them a thing again?

last 2 days i've got atleast 8 friend request from under level 5 accounts mainly named "unassigned"... after valve made it so accounts under level 5 werent able to add friends i've got one or 2 each month or something but i've got 8 in 2 days, did they found a backdoor to doing it or did i just reach a threshold of some sort for this kind of bots or something?

Yup, got 2 invites from lvl 1 unassigneds yesterday.

I don't know but that would make sense. I got a request from a private profile with a string of seemingly random characters for a name yesterday - the first one in ages.
