Safe to say it won't be back at all and quick look at the official forum tells us it's been abandoned by devs.
Error 73003 still not fixed since 2011 and considering it was always online game you're basically screwed now

Update:
Seems like EA/Maxis fixed the connection problems so its back on Steam store now

This is why always online is bs, what happens when EA Maxis decides to abandon sim city just like this?

Was anyone even playing it? I tried beta and there were shitloads of people excited about it. Then they released the game and price was high, people left and after a year i visited their website and there still were news from beta launch....

Nice of EA to patch out the need to connect to their servers before pulling the plug, so existing owners could keep on playing.

Oh. They didn't.

Wankers.

And if I recall right they wanted to amend their name as the worst company. Well, one step forward with the free dlc's, two steps back with stuff like this.

It's not sold anymore on steam store, but anyone who already bought it can always play it.

It's practically unplayable. You cannot connect to their servers. Most/all people are unable to sign in and play.

Even if I wan't been able to play it on steam it has a CD key which I can activate on Origin and play there.

Except the links in OP says the game itself doesn't work due to server issues. Nothing to do with whether you use Steam version or not...

Collectors don't collect games to play them. I never personally understood steam collectors. I prefer physical copies for my shelf when I collect games I may or may not play.

I would have never guessed that would happen since it never has before!

Having a low supply and an increased demand due to it no longer being available should obviously bring the price down, not up!

2 Penumbra games are stuck in limbo as well (Black Plague and Requiem)

"The game was removed from Steam because there is a technical issue with transfer the game to us from Paradox. It is transferred to us because the publishing agreement for the Windows version of Black Plague has come to an end. We don't know when it will be solved and are not able to do anything to solve the technical issue."

If you search for Penumbra and click the game, it links you to the homepage.

Never seen that before on Steam!

Okay then people, this thread seems to have got a bad case of assumptions. Even from Xarabas, which surprises me. Casual reminder to factcheck people!

The game still works. The servers are not offline. You can still play this game. My EA login still works in this game, and I can still navigate to a sector, and rain death upon them with my Goliath class. And here's some nice looking proof for you all too. Proof that game is playable.

Remember people. Fact checking is an important skill. Please utilise it more often.

That's like saying GFWL works flawlessly just because you never had problems with it (funny thing is, someone actually opened topic like that few months ago on SG).
Quick look at the Darkspore hub should give you the general idea how playable the game actually is. People were having problems with registering, saving and playing the game ever since early 2011

Sorry, I don't generally check steam hubs, as I don't respect their community, in the same way I don't respect the SPUF community. Long story cut short, I don't trust them for information. I'd much rather use my own information.

And just gonna say right now. Most of those threads? Bandwagon. The top thread in there at the moment even goes as far to say "THE SERVERS DO NOT EXIST"...When they quite clearly do, as I am currently connected to them. Assumptions are everywhere, and linking to a thread with more assumptions in, does not make your sayings not assumptions.
