I've really like Neverwinter from the last MMOs that I've played.

Can you guys give me some free active MMO?

Path of Exile is not MMO LOL

True but it can eat up time like one I suppose and plenty of people to play with online, the hub is MMO like...can compare it to a more massive Diablo in a sense, or something like Phantasy Star...

It can only compare to diablo and the like, its an ARPG and developers have explained MANY times, both in forum and interviews why PoE is an ARPG and why is not MMO in any mean.

Dont get me wrong, PoE is an amazing game (Im playing it since closed beta days), but it is not MMO in ANY way.

it has MMO elelments, more so then something like Daiblo, its not a full on MMO though of course.

It is a massively-multiplayer game. Its also online. I think that makes it an MMO.

In that sense, any online game is massive because people play it and might or might not play together. The massive part refers to large worlds where you don't need to specifically match up to meet players.

When "patrolling," many characters are seen on-screen. Its a game where you can find random strangers in the middle of nowhere. Sounds pretty MMO-ey.

Elaborate on the patrolling part, last time I played there were message boards and you had to invite.

The game has a max of something like 100 characters in one instance, or something like that. At launch, there should just be random people in your instance.

Instance of town or region? Back then, it was a hub game iirc.

Its both now.

Agree with Path of Exile.
While it's not MMO in the true meaning, it has MMO elements and it allows players to interact with others in towns, guilds and parties.

Also, you can check the "Free to Play" category in the Steam store, I think you might find some titles that catch your eye there ;)

Actually, Fallen Earth is/was such a good MMORPG. Original and fantastic. Has crafting and factions and is set in the apocalypse. Great game. I loved it when it was released, but I'm so choosey, so it's to old for me by now.

P2W for sure. I sadfaced all over the place when I saw PVP gear in the cash shop.

Last time I checked you still had the requirements on it which means you would get on par equipment at that point anyway. Changed?

I'm not sure, sorry. I haven't really played in a good amount of time. I hope you're right.

At least that was one of their points. They only sell intermediate items for PVE (to skip the "heroics") and the PVP gear still has requirements, so no wallet warriors. I have however not played in a month and didn't really check on the shop this year, but I doubt they changed it.

Star Wars the old republic is fun with a story for each class and loads of content, Champions online is fun with lots of customization (you even customize your arch nemesis), if you want easy to play action rpg with quick levelling then there's Neverwinter.

They took away everything if you're a hardcore end-game player.
For everyone else there is an "allowance" per week for flashpoints and warzonez. I don't know about the warzones but the flashpoint restriction works pretty interesting, meaning that you could play as many times as you want but you can't roll for the end-boss loot more than 3 times/week.
There are also unlocks to be bought with either normal credits or on the cartel market, but that's beside the point.

The point is that it's a perfectly enjoyable game if you're playing the class stories. You can easily pug as well for the quests that require a group.

It does get a bit grindy if you play a different class of the same faction because you have to repeat some quests on the same planets, but this can be overcome if you have a main which can send supplies.

Just a word of warning though, they're pretty "In your face!" about you being a f2p player and it might get on your nerves.

The best of Diablo style free games out there is Path Of Exile. Its even better than Diablo 3.

Try TERA if you can handle all the fan service. The combat system is quite advanced. Pretty much the only reason anyone plays it. If you're looking for something more old school, try giving RIFT, Aion or SWTOR a shot.

If is from EU, gameforge sucks, dont play Tera.

Permalink

TERA is good. EU gets screwed over, granted, but if your connection can handle it, there's nothing stopping you from playing on the NA servers.

Tera could be good, but have much bugs. I was a Slayer, lvl 60 and ilvl with Wonderholme set +12 and Strikeforce +12 (full glyphs) and crafting Visionmaker 2, backstab is bugged and many skills, class not has balance. But they only fix Tera Shop.

At the end i sold all the gold and account. But Tera NA it is a little differen but have many bugs equally.

I really liked the combat system in TERA. I don't know how the F2P mode is but it's certainly worth a try.

Wait for Black Desert, if you want to play Tera online, only NA servers, EU=Gameforge=sucks. Wildstar is pay to play, but if good game.

For me, best mmo ever is Lineage 2, but I've been playing since and im tired. My advice, wait for Black Desert.

The Lord of the Rings Online.

Since no one has mentioned it yet I'll throw this out there: Rift. It plays like a very nice looking WoW clone and isn't pay to win like a lot of F2P MMOs. The only thing really necessary to spend any money on is more bag slots and even then it isn't required it just makes it easier.

+1, mounted combat, interesting class mechanics, not really pay to win.

To be fair though I haven't played in a long time, I had a lifetime account before it went f2p so I get an allowance of the shop currency so I don't know everything you can buy cause I get a lot of stuff free and can freely buy the rest.

It went downhill since. Here's the big one that kills the F2P aspect: Free Players: 2 Gold

Couldn't play much, but RaiderZ is awesome as well.
