Last week on monday i was supposed to have a chat with my current employer about how that month went and that i could get my chances again but instead it was me and some others were let go for atleast the vacation time because they hired kids to do our work (it takes weeks already to learn the items, the quirks of the machines and then they will leave again..) it wasn't clear if we could come back, that was all in the hands of the board who changes direction like each week.

I still had a warehousing job pending, but also looked at some other stuff, applied to something logistical but the lady recommended me more for a job in repairing coffee machines, and i just heared i can start wednesday already, it's in my hometown, very close and hours from 7 to 16 and earlier off on Friday, so that is relaxed. Although i am still seeing some bears on the road like if i do ever want to do something else it's not experience i can take elsewhere but atleast it will be money.

The coffee repair job seems good you may even have different encounters at the cafes/offices. Being in your hometown and relaxing hours in an environment you are comfortable with. Hopefully the pay is good or acceptable by your standards. Being in a relaxed environment, you may look into another job or something to work on since you know the town.

Warm wishes and Cheers,
Cruse~

I will be an indoor mechanic (i don't have a drivers license either which also limited me in jobs). Pay will be about 10,3 per hour which is less then i made before (12) but there are job that pay 9, it's because it goes through a job agency, maybe after a year i could get a perm contract and thus pay will increase, something is always better then nothing.

Ah, yes. That sounds great, however being in your hometown you can save alot on transportation and other aspects too. Like your thread title: Lost something, gained something. :)

Since you went through the job agency, yes the agency fees. Hopefully you get a perm contract after a year or if you did good the employer offer it to you earlier. If possible you may want to ask the agency for another job recommendation? If you have the time and effort for it of course. It is not easy to work on more than one job and too excel too. I only mentioned so since it was your hometown and the timing for indoor mechanic seems relaxed. Cheers~

I could have had a try out day a few weeks ago also to become a mechanic elsewhere (but more household applicances but they also repaired computers (more my experience) although they had enough people it would have been an option, at first i wanted to give it a go but turned that down because of the travelling and how busses didn't connect it would have taken me 1 hour and 40 minutes extra a day and how it's physically going with me (sleeping problems) didn't fell smart and yeah it would also have added cost (public transport is not cheap here).
In my previous job i worked 3 days a week and my plan was to slightly increase it to 4 days and eventually 5 but that turned out differently, and now i'd immediately will start to go to 5 days with how heavy the machines might be does slightly worry me.

Well the person i had an interview with didn't even made it sure i would get a permanent contract after a year because they like the flexbility (which alot of companies have these days) but unlike with my previous job they don't expect for us to sit at home for weeks, but nothing is sure in that business, but with all those flex contracts it's impossible to get a mortgage (which i alone can't get anyway which those salaries).

Ah yes, from the sound of it, adding the traveling cost and number of hours to the previous job. The new job seems more stable also if you have confidence in your repairing skills you can start a small repair job at home during your free time through word of mouth since the neighborhood knows you well? I do hope the machines is still manageable for you and you can adapt quickly.

Yes, temp 1 year or 2 year contracts benefits the employers and they can break it easily. Life is hard anyways, Hang in there, keep the chin up. Cheers :D

Tried looking for a pc repair shop, but there were already enough, and some even closed down.
People rather buy a new pc since they are cheaper then 20 years ago. ;) And i am not that handy, though from that try out day job assumingly these days, appliances are more and more repaired by just unscrewing, put a new part in and screw it back on that anyone could do it, but people usually have warranty so repairs will be free and thus the margins on it are very small for profit.

Cheers.

Yes, nowadays its easy to repair PCs. Your knowledge would be more on parts picking, care and cleaning, troubleshooting though that might need investment on parts if you do not have certain parts handy at home. Indeed profit is small and its more of a hobby than a job especially if you live in a small town.

Adapt to your indoor mechanic 1st then I guess you can see if there's a chance for another opening.

Good luck and Have a great day~ :)

Some like to mooch of a woman, but financial stability always prevented me from looking for a partner (and hopefully have children someday), with something constant i could also improve that quality of life part hopefully.
And i used to have jobs were usually only men worked, here it seems there are also women and sometimes people meet on the workfloor, so who knows.

Thank you.

if i do ever want to do something else it's not experience i can take elsewhere

Depends on how you label it. Don't say "I fixed coffee machines", say "I've been a maintenance & repair worker on crucial liquid dispensers" or such. Well, at least describe it as generic as possible. That's often all it takes to be able to branch out into similar, but different fields of work.
Or learn how to really work the machines as well as how to keep them running, and become a barista.

True, but i worked at construction, pc jobs, last one electrics, i am like a donald duck of jobs, with all sorts of different fields of experiences, and thirty years ago you could keep switching jobs whatever you want, but well the market has changed they are looking for more people to get hired (unlike last year i am actually getting offers again) but not like choices are still endless, how i sell myself is saying i take on any job that is offered to me.
Problem is i never knew what i wanted, and if something stays fun for a long period but i think alot will eventually find that problem, especially if you are in a job you can't grow much further.

There are bars looking for barista's, i even think you could get training, but you need people contact for that and i am not such a person for it, i better work on my own or in a small team. Though if i win something nice to start my own business i would get a food truck and yeah you need people contact too but i guess doing it for myself i would find the drive but i also limit myself to a few simple items instead of a whole menu and coffee latte extra foamy and what not, plus i think i could franchise it later on and don't sell much myself anymore, or just find a love partner and maybe she wants to do 3 days and i will do 3 and we take care of our kids on our other days, that would be my dream (or become a millionaire but i know that's a bigger dream :p).

you mean like starbucks coffee machines and stuff? who would repair cheap home use coffee machines?

guess your old company was shit anyway. replacing staff with holiday kiddos to save a few bucks usually means the company is going tits up soon. or is just run by a greedy fuck.
