Yes, I know you can uncheck it. That's why I wrote that info. As for the data being already shared, the sharing part would hardly be done immediately for each individual user (more likely in batches at certain points in time), so if you uncheck it right away, you should be safe. They just count on people either not knowing or paying attention or simply forgetting to uncheck it.

As a side note and I'm not sure, whether this is new, but I think GOG added another category under Profile Name > Subscriptions. It's called "Marketing communications through Trusted Partners’ services" and it gets ticked every time you claim a game from one of their giveaways. Personally, I don't mind marketing emails from GOG themselves, but I definitely don't want any from their "trusted partners", especially if one of them is Meta (Facebook).
