I have two questions about curator-links, and I'm pretty sure the answer to the first question is "no!" - but I'd like to hear explaining answers to question number 2 :)

  1. Are these links actually permitted?
  2. What do they actually do? If I click a curator-link, do I somehow support them - and how can I rectract that support?

  1. Opening a page with a curator link gives +1 view and traffic stat for that curator which over time makes it more likely for steam to recommend the curator with higher traffic to normal users. As far as I know, once clicked, you already generated the +1 view and you can't remove it.

Thanks for the explanation. I'll try harder not to click these links :)

  1. Not permitted in discussion but you can put a link for group or curator in description of your giveaway
  2. The answer above mine is pretty good

only pressing on a game counts as a view not going to the site directly

I'm seeing this kind of links in the forum lately:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/xxxx/name_of_game/?curator_clanid=xxxx

Ah yes that is the link you get when you go from the curator to the game page so yes this would count as a plus 1 in the stats, however I don't see what's the big deal about it but yes if you don't want to "give" anything then don't press on such links plus they aren't allowed in the discussions as they are referral links which are not allowed to begin with

Then filter this shit out with uBlock origin (and custom filters)

! 2020-06-30 SteamGifts ClanID filter by buszmen201
steampowered.com/*?curator_clanid=$document,important

which will yield when entering links like above:

This is a good idea. I'm using uMatrix though and can't seem to figure out how to get it to work..

Here's hoping someone comes by who knows how to do it :)

uMatrix is not a replacement for uBlock, it's a supplement. uMatrix is blocking requests by hand, Block uses already defined rulesets.

TL;DR: use both.

I have used uBlock before, don't remember the details... both will do, I stole your rule, thank you :)
