So I'm looking at a bundle in Steam, and since I already own some of the games, I can't purchase the whole bundle for the purpose of gifting it, I can only buy games to "complete my bundle". Is there a way to buy the whole bundle as a gift, am I missing something?

Different bundles have different limitations. Maybe a link to the bundle in question would be helpful?

Don't know if it still works but some years ago you could log out add the bundle to your shopping cart and then log in and complete the purchase in a browser.

You could remove the games from your own account and restore them after gifting the bundle.

You can't gift "Complete your collection" bundles at all since they are custom made just for your account based on the missing games.

And first one is where you can't buy it for yourself if you own even 1 game, unless you do the tricks above.

Not quite.

Bundles are split into two types - "purchase together" and "complete the set". PT bundles can only be bought if you own none of the content and allow gifting of the full bundle regardless of whether you own none, some or all of the bundle. CTS bundles give you a discount based upon the items you already own and can't be gifted at all.

The old style packages that include multiple items but don't discount for owned items are still in use alongside the newer bundle types.

Usually you'd want to gift the games to a friend, not make alt accounts you can buy games for from Steam store.

I meant he could gift the complete bundle to his friend from an extra account

Except it's impossible to gift that kind of bundle at all from any account.

Looks like you guys are right, some bundles, even when none of the games are owned, do not allow purchasing as a gift. I was looking at the Thief bundle, and even when logged out, it still said I couldn't gift the purchase since it was based on my own games.
