i wondered how that image works and how it updates, it just a generated gif that changes for 1 minute

Usually it repeats the last min if you stay on the site and serving as countdown timer as long as you refresh site, since the timer counts at the moment you refresh & the remaining time until the desired time. So not really using it as to leave the site open but just ocassionally refreshing it from time to time to check once a while to see how much time is left.
