I don't know about the game being popular or not, but I played it on PS3 and had a total blast with it! So assuming the port is decent, I totally recommend it!

I wouldn't say it's not popular. Most likely many already got it in one form or another during the past 8.5 years and many still play it.
In fact it's a very nice game that still holds very well today. I used to play it a lot on PS3 many years ago.
