the legality would depend on what country you're in.
in the case of this Attack on Titan, it'd be illegal in just about every industrialized nation in the world (and the vast majority of the developing world too, lol). there isn't even this whole shady business of unlicensed anime in this case. that is, if you watch it via this link, or, you know, download some torrent off nyaa or what not
