I'm going tonight to US and i'm going to spend a few weeks (I'm from Brazil).

Simple question, couldn't find any info inside the FAQs: can I purchase itens unavailable in Brazil while in US or it falls in the same situation as purchasing itens through a proxy?

I don't want to get VAC banned doing it. Of course I can still buy on GMG or other places and redeem the code even here in Brazil, but normally is more convenient to do it through steam.

Thanks in Advance

I assume your bank account is Brazilian, so I believe Steam won't let you buy things from the US store. I say this because I can't use my UK card on the US Steam store.

Items.

You don't get VAC banned for anything else but cheating/hacking on a VAC secured server.

Oh, thanks... Itens in portuguese, Items in english... always forgot! :)

So it isn't VAC banned, but banned anyway. Already see people commenting here that you can get banned purchasing in Russia and other places that isn't your home country. Using proxy or not, i'm purchasing in another country. :)

It's because CIS countries are piss-poor and people pirate stuff.

So Valve and their partners decided to sell it for a very low price (compared to other regions) and put a region lock on those products, so people from other regions can't abuse that low price policy.

But that doesn't seem to work well, people outside of CIS countries use proxies and VPNs to activate those locked keys.
Most of them get away with that, but some suffer a trade probation or permanent trade ban.
Boom, no more buying, trading or even activating keys on your account.

But US should be fine.

You can get banned when tunneling your connection to purchase in another country. But if you travel to another country and there you buy games which aren't available in Brazil, it's completely legal and not against the Steam ToS. And if they still would do something, you can prove that you have been there with flight tickets or sth.

My fear is to get banned without Steam Support answering my tickets. I used it only once, but they never contacted me back and the ticket is still there :P

Well, why should you get banned? The Steam ToS only says it's not allowed to get games via tunneling. That's the only thing mentioned. However thousands get games via tunneling every day and there's no public known case in which someone got banned for tunneling...

It should be completely legal otherwise they would be assholes if they wouldnt let you buy the goodies when your staying longer in another country or moving completely.
