Just got to thinking about older posts/closed posts since I saw some threads about necro posts (posting in dead/very old threads) or actual necro posts...

I don't know much about how many resources are used for keeping old/closed threads, but thought I'd ask if it would actually help cleaning that stuff up? I know I have a pet peeve about keeping threads open once the topic is done...anyone else? Although, I do find it funny when old threads are brought back from the dead =p

Oh, another key drop! Won't say what for...this time...Ha! OG09X-UNIJW-UL8VS-INR6S-E3WFQ

I personally can't leave a thread open after it's done. It annoys the hell out of me to have it open. I don't mind the closed threads being there, I think it's actually helpful. I know I've looked at some pretty old ones, but I do think that it would be cool if there was a way for a thread to be autoclosed after a certain period of inactivity.

Also, key said invalid so I'm guessing someone took it.

It's a Desura key for Plith as snagged by lapio above

If it's a Steam key it would have given you the message that your activation of the game was not completed

That would make sense. I, stupidly, assumed it was gonna be a steam key. I should know at this point to try other places.

I agree that closed threads could be useful...although only some. Also, I'm not sure if the threads are organized by open/closed status. I know I went to forum page 400's and it was like 200 pages of closed threads. I was trying to see if there were some open threads that far back =p

If so, then there's like 70k closed threads! (If I remembered the correct thread count for the page I ended at). Of course, I'm sure cleaning that all up and deciding which ones should be kept (for searching) would be tedious.

At the moment, I believe all of the closed threads automatically go to the back. I'd assume so at least. That's why we don't see closed threads within our current open ones. I'd guess they just keep piling on toward the end (at either the beginning or end of the pages upon pages of closed threads) and they all end up there. I'm not positive on that, but I'm pretty sure there is a point where you hit the first closed thread in the pages and it's all closed from there.

They close automatically after a period of time. 3 months, I think.
