Think I'll stick to JA2 unless they can really turn things around. I don't have much faith (if any) in the development team.

hopefully it's not too expensive, so i will buy it when it comes out.
otherwise, meh....the developer made my least favorite shadowrun, and the only thing i know the publisher for, is Devils & Demons, which is a terrible turn based game

These are just the publisher, the devs are the guys who makes Shadowrun Boston Lockdown (nice one)

being a THQ division, wouldnt the better games just be published by THQ

Have almost zero hope for this after the last couple "remakes" were rather bad compared to the originals. But this is a different developer so maybe it won't be total trash?

Loved the original one and deadly games! ^^ Not big fan of the new art style but we'll see how the game turns out. Good news :)

Jagged Alliance 2 was truly the masterpiece. And it still plays great to this very day. More recent games in the series like Back in Action, Crossfire and dreaded JA: Online - not so much. I think I'm gonna be cautiously optimistic about this one and wait it out to see how it goes. Anyways, who owns the rights to the series these days? Nordic through THQ?

THQ Nordic i believe, but... Jagged Alliance 2 - Wildfire published by Topware Interactive (from steam store page )

Yeah, so I've searched it and Nordic Games bought the rights to the franchise back in 2015.

Were any of the JA games past JA2 (1999) any good? Seems like I lost JA2 out of my sight and when I looked back there were thousand more Jagged Alliances and they didn't look good.

Flashback wasn't that bad, though not particularly good either... it's hard to compete with the likes of JA2 and live up to the myth its predecessor has become, I guess.

Ahh, it's not even myth that is a problem, just like you said, "not particularly good".

Just make JA-like game that can get that 8/10. Even solid 7/10 would be nice.

Yeah, might be a simple case of 'take what you can get' ;>, although I didn't feel as horrible playing Flashback as I did while playing the others... counts for something ;D.

Not really, the only similar games (with focus on individual soldiers) I could recommend would be Silent Storm, various JA2 mods and maybe Fallout Tactics (I feel like FT is a bit too different tho).

well classic Xcom1-2, JA2, there were Laser Squad games (Xcom mind Gollop behind those games ), Xenonauts, Ufo Extraterrestrials (didn't play the last one but it should have mechanics similiar to original).

He asked post-JA2 :D

Xenonauts and UFO - I feel it's not similar enough to JA2, there are tons of different systems (like research, base building) and lack of personalities to soldiers, so I wouldn't really throw them into same box.

Good to see a different publisher this time around. The developer doesn't seem too bad either (I didn't hate JA Online, just didn't like its format). Didn't like the cinematics of the Steam trailer, but the tiny amount of gameplay it showed has promise. Thanks for the heads up!
