Not for the games they are giving away, but for flooding the site with giveaways by the truckload. Every time one of these bundles get released, hordes of people jump on it to try to get some cheap contributor points, and our available points skyrocket. Yesterday afternoon, I think like 150 points were added in a matter of only an hour or two... which is nuts since usually it may take a day for that many to stack up.

So thank you. Thank you for providing me with tons of points to spend on giveaways other than yours. Much appreciated!

except everyone gets those points, so your chances to win each giveaway drop since everyone else is entering those giveaways too.

I dunno. I'd be willing to bet most people are putting them towards those bundle games people are putting up. Since there's so many of them, most of them have really good odds to win even with no contributor restriction, and a lot of people are just out to win a game regardless of what it is.

Also, shaddap it's more points!

You'd be surprised how many people don't spent them as fast as they get them when bundle comes out. If you're one of the people that do then you have better odds.

I'd be more likely to believe the "banking points" situation, where those who have been on the site a while or purchase bundles themselves will simply sign up for giveaways that are weeks/months in the future, just to "bank" the points to use on giveaways with better odds.

^^ this. I can see the point he was trying to make if he just didn't have enough points to enter all of the giveaways that he wanted, but as far as the odds go it doesn't make the chances of winning any given one better. If anything it worsens it. But at the same time you are also entering more giveaways yourself, so it would seem to even out in the end.

are you implying that if it would not have been for the points generated by their giveaways you would otherwise not thank them for sharing free games with the community ?

Well to put it bluntly, seeing page after page of crayon physics is pretty annoying.

there is a filter you could use so that you only see Blops,MW, Tomb raiders, Dishonored, Borderlands 2 and whatnot. Not everyone has Crayon physics . . . and its a chance to receive it free of charge. Annoying as you might think of it , it's a gesture of good will (even if some are contrib value farming).

just block it and quit whining

use the filter in sg+ annoyance solved. free games for everybody else, they're getting so many entries somebody must want them, if people hated these givaways nobody'd enter them.

thats what I did anyway(filter with sg+ i mean)

(at least with these you can't farm contrib since it caps at $30 unless you gift something else(i guess they could farm up to 20% their other gifts value but its not like they're getting full value for all this(unless its you know..up to 30 they do, but thats not even a full bunlde, its like 2.5 games so after that they're doing it for no reason and just gifting to people who want to play them)))

unless you use a browser that doesn't support sg+ then that sucks

Well, it's atleast they do yes reduce contributor points given to the one that creates giveaways from bundle games, so there's nothing to argue about it.
They are giving away to these who want to get an extra game on their library.
Also, please, don't hate it

I like the points, but also like the fact that some of those bundles have games on my wishlist. More points to use for games I actually want!

This is so ignorant and ungrateful, a lot of people giveaway their bundle games even when they've reached the $30 limit, just so people can have a chance of getting them too.

they shouldn't. look at your avatar, clearly you don't mean it with that face.
its like how people take me serious when I wear this mace squirrel face if they'd just look at you in addition to what you're saying. its like how people disregard emodicons as just decoration instead of setting tone for things punctuation misses

all good - I've entered more giveaways in the past couple of weeks than I have since I've been here because the points are just crazy - I burn through 300 points entering anything that looks interesting to me (including some of those bundle cheapies) and by the time I get home from work it's right back to 300, so hell yeah

Yeah not really, I get 300 pts in less than a day for sure. Maybe 5-10 hours max.

I slept most of yesterday when the remainder of Humble Bundle was released. It makes me wonder how long I was capped at 300. :S
