I recently got my hands on this computer and I was wondering whether it would be able to run maybe Battlefield 3 and/or 4 on medium to high graphics. Other than that, it would be sweet if I were able to play some other minor games with little to no lag at all.

Any help would be highly appreciated

Battlefield 3 Req:
CPU: 2 GHz DUAL CORE (Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz or Athlon X2 2.7 GHz)
CPU Speed: Info
RAM: 2 GB
OS: Windows Vista (Service Pack 1) 32-bit
Video Card: (AMD): DirectX 10.1 compatible with 512 MB RAM (ATI Radeon 3000, 4000, 5000 or 6000 series, with ATI Radeon HD 3870 or higher performance)(NVIDIA): DirectX 10.0 compatible with 512 MB RAM (NVIDIA GeForce 8, 9, 200, 300, 400 or 500 series, with NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT or higher performance)
Sound Card: Yes
Free Disk Space: 20 GB

http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i5-2500-vs-AMD-A10-8700P shows that the processor in yours is limited, (Compared to what I ran B3 on) that being said B3 should be able to run on it, but you'd have to make sure turbo is on.
My concern would be your graphics - using the Radeon R6 M255DX comparison:
http://gpuboss.com/gpus/Radeon-R6-M255DX-vs-Radeon-HD-3870 to compare with one of the most basic cards that will work on lower resolutions, I think you would be pushing it to run it at more than medium graphics and I wouldn't even try with B4.

I could be wrong, though so give it a shot and let me know how you went.
Game on!

Thanks heaps mate, I am able to run BF4 on my Geforce 730A which I have at the moment, just would like it to run a bit faster and at a higher fps rate. I checked out the page you gave me and it looks like the r6 is slightly better but not heaps.

" Medium " and " low ". Don't count on it for graphic settings on " High ".

With no lag at all? Depends where you live and how merciful your internet provider is.

Why exactly did you buy that? For that price you could have build an amazing gaming pc. Not saying that it was a terrible purchase, but if you got it mainly for gaming, you could have gotten a way better pc.

Gotta agree with that - I recently upgraded mine here in NSW and only spent about $1600 (almost finished - just a few bells and whistles to go :P).

+1

Buying each individual part yourself and building the PC with them will always get you a better PC than spending the same amount of money on already built PC.

If you don't know enough about hardware then you should have done what I did and ask people on one of the tech forums for best build with the budget you have.

And if you don't know how to build the PC with parts you bought, some store owners/workers are willing to build it free of charge for you with the parts you bought from them.

Even if you have to pay for someone to assemble it, it's still cheaper then buying a pre-built one.

I know what you mean, you can make a killer custom pc with that price but it wasn't my choice :P I am meant to be studying!

I'm not following you there. This sounds like you bought it on accident (must be me being tired)...

Should probably do Medium just about, especially if you drop the resolution, might be a few nasty FPS drops here and there. It's like any lowend laptop graphics tbh, start at low and take everything else you can get away with as a win.

Will say though if you bought it new/can still return it and can hold off a couple of months Bristol Ridge is coming imminently, so you should be able to get something significantly gruntier for a similar price (infact that seems super expensive, but maybe that's just Australia?).

yeah Australia is darer, i know GTX 1080 is like 43% darer here in NZ :( doesn't look like i'll be ever getting that for a future build then

it'll run fine but in my opinion battlefield 3+4 are a huge letdown, if you like shooters I'd rather go with games like farcry3+4, wolfenstein new order, gta v, just cause 3 maybe even payday2 but hey that's just me

At least you won't see the exact same weapons etc as before. Even if it's exactly like 4, it still has some significant differences.

The A10s are low-mid gaming APUs. You can run any semi-recent game with acceptable performance at low-mid settings and 720p (maybe 1080p) on it, and that's it.

ah that sounds fine, I dont have many higher end new games anyway. Thanks

You are welcome. The good news is that AMD really went into the more core approach, so that APU will let you run a ton of things next to a game: communication software, browsers, even capture software if you ever want to do some streaming, and many more.
