Damn. I had a very old Steam account - completely forgot it's username/pass/email. It's probably like 8 years old, wish I didn't lose it.

It's nice to see cool badge like that. And it costs nothing like the 6000 level holiday badges crafted for thousands of dollars. by some.
But that account has 69 games in it, meaning 6 games activated per year. Considering the bundles nowadays it's far below average.

Some people got them early like Valve employees and certain other people like server owners from what I heard in the past. The actual release date for Steam was the 12th of Sept. Mine used to say the 11th of Sept as I got it 2 mins before PST Midnight but it changed to the 12th as I'm GMT.
