This is not my first time buying keys from the site; I bought most AAA keys there to make non-bundled giveaways here, but today one of the winner said He can't activate the key I sent because it's a region-locked key.

Yeah, asked the Gmg support.
It seems that Greenmangaming site now only sell region-restricted keys based on Buyers region (Claimed by Gmg support Karl himself).

Said Giveaway and Gmg Redux Page
As you can see, there is no information about selling region-locked keys on the page.

Anyway Karl deleted all my tickets. I assume I'll have to deal with the issue myself so Here is the problem & question:

  1. Your opinion on the solution about Redux Bundle giveaway. First I think about waiting for a week to get the "Not Received" mark, but I feel bad for the winner I'm thinking about giving him another AAA game (WOW! Hold your keyboard sir! I mean I'll still get that Not Received) But maybe you guys can suggest me any better ideas?
  2. The big issue: Some of my on-going giveaways use keys from the Gmg site. Should I delete them all? or keep calm and take the risk. Confused.
  3. Anyone having the same issue? :( I really have no idea when did the Gmg site change their rules about selling region-locked keys.

Note: Me. Public. :Shy:

I had the same issue with Metro Redux but fortunately I found out that the key was region locked (as you can see here) before the end of the giveaway so I just deleted it.

Wow, interesting. Maybe it's only for the Redux Bundle. I don't know why Gmg support claims that the site sells region-locked keys based on buyers region then. Just.. Dunno.

  1. Ask support to change the game, and give that game to winner, if he agree with that.
  2. Yes,delete them, no one will blame you
  3. No, sorry

  1. You could also see if you can trade for a copy. Or just give him another good game and ask him to agree to change or delete the giveaway. You could also agree to get him this bundle next time it's on sale instead. They will be able to change it to "received" later.
  2. I'd go with better safe than sorry. Unless there is a way to check? If somebody who already owns the game, tried to activate it, would they just get the "already owned" message anyway?
  3. Have heard of this issue before. Quite a long ago too. CarlEric had it. Here is the paste (he still keeps the link on his profile page).

I had the same problem with my first private giveaway (March). Solution: don't make giveaways for gmg keys. Or you can check steamdb before making a giveaway. If that game has some region-restricted version, surely that is what you bought

Sorry to hear about your problems. GMG have been selling region locked keys for some developers/publishers for some time. It has been in their FAQ for a long time that they offer no guarantees that keys will work outside of the region of the buyer. And unfortunately they offer no clue as to which games are region locked and which aren't.

Thank you guys for the solution.

  1. I love how you guys suggest me how I can ask supports to change the game. I think that's the best I can do.
  2. I'll have to delete them then.
  3. Seems true.
