I'm also curious how many people prefer non-lethal to lethal, or do you like multiple play-throughs to do both? I prefer hardest difficulty stealth only and non-lethal. I typically restart a mission if I get seen.

When given the option in a game, are you pure stealth, guns blazin' or a mix of both

If it's possible to stealth in any way, shape or form, I will choose that path every single time.

I like being stealthy, but I need the game to be fast-paced.
Otherwise, I'll start killing everything.

Stealhy sneaky as much as I can, but when I see some red barrels, then it's just too tempting.

I love stealth....and hate it , if the story breaks this....you stealth your way trough a whole game...and on every cutscene you act like a stomping idiot

Of the games I've played lately I sneaked the most in Far Cry 2. Really enjoyed it! Played through the game once more with a realism mod installed, it got even better. I see you have FC2 in your library, you might want to check my review on Steam where I mention the realism mod:

Playing Skyrim right now, doing a fair bit of sneaking, but not an all out stealth character.

It's funny you mention skyrim. I played so many stealth games and in the end I always go back to Skyrim. You have so many build options especially with mods to do completely stealth playthroughs. FC2 was really good, I liked Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut (since they fixed the boss fights) and Splinter Cell Blacklist too.

Nice to hear! DE: HR DC is in my library, looking forward to playing it sometime soon.

I just remembered - the most I've sneaked around in a game ever would probably be Metal Gear Solid. Quite a few years have passed since I played it, but I remember a lot of sneaking.

Today I think a game based just around sneaking/not being detected wouldn't be for me, but I'm not sure.

Yeah I'm really keeping an eye on MGS 5: Phantom Pain. I think it would be great for people with both playstyles.

I love that it's going to be set in an open world. I'll have my eyes on it too.

Depends, in Deus Ex:HR i prefer stealth, mostly because it is quite fun there, challenging id say.

That was one of the games where I enjoyed stealth, although I did lethal stealth. I could be as stealthy as I wanted to be, but if I felt like it, I could just go hog-wild!

I like both. I recently played, and completed, Metro 2033 in a second playthrough and I did almost all stealth throughout the game. My first playthrough was non-stealth. Yes, it talked about lethal/non-lethal but Metro 2033 had a great stealth system that was unpolished and very frustrating. However, it made the game way more fun than just running in and gunning down everyone while wasting ammo in shoot-outs.

Thief, however, I loved trying to do mostly non-lethal stealth. The earlier games are ridiculously frustrating but the game is a great example of how tense and interesting stealth can be.

I wonder how redux changed any of that in the metro games? I should check that out.

Improved graphics slightly, not much else to it.

ah, I was under the impression they changed 2033 to be more like last light in a lot of lot of the game mechanics. It wasn't just a graphics overhaul. I'm not sure though.

You're right, my bad. They've incorporated certain features from Last Light in 2033, added a variety of difficulty mods and made the games run on 1080p on PS4. So basically, upgraded gameplay slightly, got the games to the next-gen stage and that's that. :D

Pretty sure the stealth system was improved a little bit but the state of it in the original is terribad.
