Hi fellow SGers,

sorry for my Rant now, but i am pissed about some things in Games.
I played Final Fantasy XV and now playing The Last Guardian on Ps4 and you know what, you get the flying car, the best Weapons, some Outfits AFTER you beat Final Fantasy XV and the same to The Last Guardian, you get new Outfits AFTER you beat the Game, i mean WTF ??? WHY ???
For some People this is not interesting, but for me it is, i mean when the Option is there to fit your character with Outfits and best Weapons and Stuff, why giving this AFTER you beat the Game. I will never play it twice or a third time. why i should do that, there are so many Games out there and when i beat a Game its done for me. why with another outfit beat the same game again ??? WTF hahahaha sooorrryyy, but i am really pissed about devs doing this. same as in Tales of Zestiria Game, you must PAY for Outfits. Why ???
Back in the Days the Games has all in it and when you beat a mission or quest you got a outfit reward, but nowadays AFTER you beat the hole Game. I hate this !!!

ok, sorry again for my Rant, but i want to know how you all think about this and here is a little Gib for you :

Post game unlocked content is often overpowered or unbalanced compared to standard gear. While occasionally, some of it should be unlocked by default (like 2 player mode in Ico), there is a good reason you don't get the ultimate sword early on.

DLC gear does suck though.

yes, but when it's only for cosmetics like in Last Guardian, then this is stupid, why i should play the hole game twice with other outfits. the problem for me is, when i beat a game it's done and i don't want to play it a second time ONLY for new Outfits.

As I haven't played the game, I can't say, but even cosmetic costumes can make sense to be locked during a run. A game I enjoyed (Haunting Ground) had bonus costumes that you had to unlock with finish conditions, because the standard costume was how the developer intended the player character to be. The rest are rewards.

no in the Last Guardian and FInal Fantasy they are not paid dlcs, but why they don't make that in the game, not after the game was beaten.
yeah i wish the old days came back in games, but with new graphis and ganeplay hehe :)

Final Fantasy XV and the same to The Last Guardian, you get new Outfits AFTER you beat the Game, i mean WTF ??? WHY ???

Post game in FFXV is longer than the main story, so... Besides it makes sense that you get to keep an outfit that you see for the first time in the last chapter only after beating the game.
TLG rewards for running after "collectibles" and that's an ancient way of doing things.

You won't play a game a second and third time, but many will and free, additional content is a great nice bonus, a reward for those players imo.

Paying for gear/outfits is a different story.

yes its a nice bonus, but i was always like this, i buy a game, play it and when its done i sell it and buy the next. so for me all this stuff after the game is useless

I'm sorry I'm too direct, but do you care about them, if you view them as useless? It's a mean of rewarding the player who cares about the game a bit more that just to finish it and sell it/trade it ASAP and I think that it's someting that should be respected.

yes it's ok we all have other opinions and i like the games i play, some games are really good and in the time i play them i had much fun, but i want all the fun in the game and not after the game. i have not enough money to let them in my home sitting, therefore its better to sell them and other gamer can play it cheaper. and i have a new game from that money :)

Edit : i don't sell all games, i love Final Fantasy and have all Final Fantasy games to collect, but still, i am not playing it, i tried that many times and its boring me to play it agaiin and i respect the work from devs, but some things are stupid in my opinion

I get you, I'm in a very similar situation.

I just don't understand why does it bother you when a game offers small rewards for players, who have the time, money and will to give said game more attention than you're able to do.

i have now over 1000 games on steam, therefore to play and collect a older game or a game i liked playing it. so i have most of the games anyway :)
and later when its cheap in sale i get it on steam, ok some games are not coming to steam, but most of them
and i don't speak of other players, they can do whatever they like and i would never talk bad about them. this is only my opinion and i would love to have all the content in the game and not after a game and thats why it bother me. but like i said we all have other opinions and other gaming wishes :)

If you think that beating the main story of FFXV equals of you completing it, then maybe you should not play modern JRPGs, since you obviously only care about a fraction of the content, making them a pretty bad purchase price/experienced content wise.

This was only an example, you have much to do after you beat the Game, but most Games like The Last Guardian after you beat the Game to get new Outfits is useless. on Final Fantasy you have many things to do after the story, therefore its ok, but also on Final Fantasy i would love to have it in the Game, not after i beat the Story. and i have more then 140 Hours in Final Fantasy XV, so you cannot say i didn't play it like it should and i still playing it to complete all :)

Well, those are for those who still think games have replay value, meaning they can be replayed. Honestly, unless it is some casual game—which I do play and discard as well—I maintain that if a game is good, playing through it once is not enough. In most cases you cannot fully get the entire story, miss a ton of the smaller nuances in game mechanics, or entire big things in game mechanics.

Hah, tell me about it. I just beat Batman Arkham Origins. Now I get to wear other outfits like the fancy ones in the picture below . Guess what? There is a bug right after beating the game which makes it unplayable so I can't even use the outfits now to do some side missions or stuff. I could use them in New Game +, but I really just want to do my side missions in a fancy suit. It would have been really nice to have those during the whole story.

I guess it has to do with cut scenes, though. You can't have Batman just suddenly switch suits =/

I played Arkham Knight with the Batman Forever suit. Awesome glowing red eyes. Turns out that makes a later scene confusing when someone looks at Batman's eyes and notices they are the wrong colour. I had no idea why the person had a freak out until later. :P

There's a code to be entered in the main menu for arkham games which allow you to use your DLC outfits, and I did so with impunity for Arkham City because I don't believe that using a outfit that I PAID for which has ZERO consequence on the game would actually amount to cheating/hax. If you play Arkham Knight, you can keep that in mind :)

(Also unrelated question: Is Origins good? I've finished Arkham City, and I don't know whether to go for Origins or Knight since origins had pretty mediocre reviews)

I have actually just written a negative review for it ^^. I like the game, but I don't think spending much money on it is justified. The bug I described above isn't the only one of its kind. There are other very annoying bugs and glitches too.

If you have the game already or you can get it for very cheap, I'd definitely play it, but else I'm not quiet sure.

I already own all Arkham games, so yeah I think I'll give it a try. I mainly wanted to play it because of the Deathstroke/Joker connections, but they're really a lesser part of the whole game apparently. Thanks!

they do the same in dead space. you get the best armor in the game when you start a game+. tried it for 3 hours and got bored, no way i'm replaying the game just after beating it...

i suppose it's the dev's way of adding "replay value" to their games.

yes i can understand that replay value, but like you said its boring to play it a second tiime, there are so many games i want finish it and next game. not playing the same game over and over haha

I don't like it. But there is thing I hate even more - finish game to unlock higher difficulty.
This is so bad - I want a challenge... so I have to beat whole game first in less challenging way... after that second playthrough is much easier because I KNOW what to expect... also better gear for finishing game... this is so stupid imho.

Yeah I don't really get that concept myself. The only game I've played that I know did that was Journey which had a hidden white cloak you could unlock after finding a bunch of hidden symbols, but that cloak did look pretty cool plus it gave you a trophy so not a bad deal. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I absolutely agree. Would never play a game a second time directly after the first time. Maybe later on, but it's just maybe. And I don't understand, which sort of gamer would be hurt, if the last reward was given a few minutes before the end.

When the game has no replayability and cosmetic stuff unlocks after I finish the game, I just don't care. Maybe I waste a few minutes just to see how the character looks and then I'm done. I rarely like to change the default costume, though, so this makes it even worthless to me. But if you like to change how your character looks, I understand your frustration.

in some games you can do like side quest you haven't done before after you finish the main story. Although I usually do EVERYTHING else possible before starting the main maissions, I don't really mind unlocks for finishing the main quest. I'm more annoyed when there are new and interesting game mechanics that get unlocked like in the last chapter so you get to play with them for like 5% of total time you spent with the game. That sucks.

Back in the days? Like for Resident Evil 1 where you got new outfits and weapons after completing the game 20 years ago? And it was also dependent on your rank. And in a certain sense it was always like this for a lot of 2d fighting games where you unlock new characters and outfits for beating story mode. The concept is not new.

And at least for the weapons it makes sometimes sense since normally they hide the overpowered ones which break the balancing of the game (even if it was already super easy before). Consider it as a reward for dedicated people who replay a game because they really liked it or are searching for less visible content or try to better understand the story.

For Final Fantasy, as others have pointed out, there tends to be a lot of post end-boss content. The hardest bosses come after the main story is over, and might be too hard to bothersome for some to beat, but others enjoy the challenge. Personally, I don't really care for them, but it adds value for other people.

For some People this is not interesting, but for me it is, i mean when the Option is there to fit your character with Outfits and best Weapons and Stuff, why giving this AFTER you beat the Game. What you view as useless other view as replay value. Why not be happy that other people get something small that gives them replay value? It's not like something like this would have taken much dev-time anyway. I also rarely replay games, but I'm not going to say that others should not.

i don't talk about other people its only my opinion and when other people like it ok good for them :)
And i have now more then 140 Hours in Final Fantasy XV and love the Series, but i would love to have all content within the Game,
ok final fantasy was not a good example, because there is really much to do after you beat the game, but The Last Guardian to get the Outfits after you beat the game is really useless for me and you must begin a new game to get the outfits,
anyway happy new year btw :)

It might be useless to you, but it's a very cheap way for the developer to add (perceived) value to a game for other people.

Also, happy new year!

I also dont beat the game more than once but I think they do that to motivate you to play the game again.

yes when its an outfit or weapon that is stronger and therefore its easier to play then ok, but when its only cosmetic then its useless to get them after the game
