So I'm in a ldr, what fun.. I need some tips on some games we can play while apart.
I'm looking for something not too hardcore "gamey" with some coop(mmo maybe?) that a lower end computer can run.

Help me steamgifts, you're my only hope!

Edit: Thanks alot for all the tips SG, I really appreciate it :)

Left 4 Dead. Many, many, many hours have been spent with my fiancée. God, she's hot with a shotgun in her hands...

Minecraft is also a good one (god, she's hot when she builds things). Killing Floor if you can run it (god, she's hot when she kites). Borderlands is probably a bit too high-end for your PC but if you can do it, this is fun too (god, she's hot when she berserks).

If you can run Skype and a game at the same time, single-player games can be co-op in a sense too. Many hours have been put into Skyrim together while apart (god, she's hot when she Shouts).

For an MMO, we're both pretty heavy Mabinogi players, but that might be a little too hardcore. I wish I was kidding. That cutesy art style hides one hell of a game behind it.

Oh, and if you ever need anyone to talk to about the stresses of an LDR, you can come to me.

Thanks Jade, it's not too far apart, but still too far for my liking :(

Skyrim seems to be working pretty well, but we can only play it on my computer. Minecraft is so bloody expensive, and I don't even know if that will suit our tastes, but I will consider it :)

There's a demo mode available. Just create an account and you can either play in your browser or download the game, which will only let you use the demo mode. It'll give you five in-game days (nearly two hours) to run around in, find out if you like it or not and how well your PC likes the game.

I wanted to play it with a friend, then after much persuasion we both found out that the lobby was broken (netcode broken both in demo AND in game). Disappointing.

Terraria is a really good suggetion. An MMO can work as well depending on your interests and tastes.

I always reccomend http://www.co-optimus.com when hunting around for co-op games. You can at least start seeing what is out there and then figure out if it will run on your systems.

Unfortunately no. The closest you could come is paying for it on Steam, and then....."acquiring" it elsewhere.

if you like MMORPGs, and have money and time to spare, World of Warcraft has amazing multiplayer and doesn't lag even on shitty computers like mine

terraria/minecraft are fun MP too, though they did ruin MC

I also suggest awesomenauts, beat hazard, castle crashers, and magicka

Comment has been collapsed.

How did they ruin Minecraft...?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

It's no popular opinion, but I played MC back in 1.5 beta and loved it. But now... it's just shitty. It's strayed waay too far from the original complete-sandbox it used to be. Now it's an RPG with goals and an end... I know, I know, Creative mode = complete sandbox. But it's all still there.

Also, I don't even think Mojang is indie anymore. I despise non-indie companies. No idea why. They just seem money-grubbing to me. Pure indie companies and devs (e.g. Team Meat, Phil Fish) need the money. Mojang just kept on raising the price on Minecraft to ridiculous heights.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I don't think you understand what indie means. Secondly, while I can see where you're coming from, you don't have to "end" it. I've been playing for ages and never even truly explored the Nether, because I'm just having fun in the Overworld. Never even seen the End or a stronghold.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I looked up indie once, but I have a terrible memory. I just assume "independent" now.

I also said about Minecraft "But it's all still there.". It just kinda... lingers. You don't have to do anything. You could just stand in a single spot for an irl year and not HAVE to do anything.

BUT IT'S STILL THERE.

It just bothers me. And I didn't think that anyone would agree with me, though I do have a friend that agrees. I have many unpopular opinions.

  • Team Fortress 2
  • Garry's Mod (Trouble in Terrorist Town)
  • Dungeon Defenders

Both waiting on a Resident Evil 5 sale to buy and play together and we used to play that Rusty Hearts game for a while together. Oh, there's also those Serious Sam games you can play together.
