Didn't know the bible needs fixing :)
i'm guessing you are a "Sofer Stam" (have no idea how to call that in english)
Nice

So you do text restoration? That's awesome! I love those old texts, but I'm afraid if you asked me to restore an ancient document (or even a modern one) it would end up looking more like an ink blot. I respect people with the patience and precision to restore texts like that, especially holy ones with all the rules regarding texts with the tetragrammaton.

So is it similar to art restoration work? I've never heard of a Sofer SeTam before, but I love learning new things. Time to procrastinate with Wikipedia!
Edit: I'm still a bit confused after reading that Wikipedia article. Do you touch up the ink on the original scroll, or do you copy the text over to a new scroll?

on restoration it depends on the condition of the text and scroll, if its bad you re write it, if the scroll itself is good then you just fix the damaged text and re-write it.
on new bible you write the whole of it from scratch (it takes more the 1/2 a year tho) :-)

I believe the English word would be 'scribe' but from what I understand it is a far more specialised task than that.

i get where you think it's scribe. but i think it's way different.
not really into religion so i'm not really sure. but "knowing" one is very cool ;)

I'm just suggesting it as the English term that would include that, I'm not claiming it as a perfect description of everything that is involved!
As a professional artist and illustrator I'm familiar with calligraphy and due to my personal interests I'm familiar with illuminated manuscripts and the like. 'Scribing' can certainly include very formal and ritualistic applications as well as free-hand writing, and I did describe this as highly specialised due to the number of rules and obligations that I understand are involved.
You are, however, welcome to educate me further and in any event I congratulate you on your achievement!

thank you,but...well unless you are going to be a "sofer stam" i cant see what i can teach you :-)
as in any writing art there are roles for the construction of the letters them self, as well for the making of the scroll and ink... etc'
part of them are technical such of the true form of the letter, how to correct a damaged letter/word, or the allowed ingredients for the creation of the ink, others are spiritual such as the condition you are allowed to write them :-)

Please enlighten me further! I would like to know more.

The entirety; I have no idea what your project was but it sounds incredibly interesting.

mmm. i dont know if i can do that, not here any way :-D
a lot of it you have to see for yourself, and part of it is writing here on other comments :-)
basically the project is fixing the bible, as Jewish bible is writing by hand, by certain roles and conditions (there are printed version of it off course but those are for learning purpose).
because of that over time you have to fix the damage done by use/ environmental conditions and time itself - and that was what i done for the last 1/2 of a year ^_^
