Hey guys,

i am very new in SG and i just got that there are Groups in which Group-Giveaways can be started (Maybe also some more things, but i never joined one so idk).

Well i dont know very much about Groups themselves and i dont know how to join them.

So, could somebody tell me some hard facts about groups and how to join them?

Thank you!

it's easy for some of them.
you go to their home page, like this one
and then just click on the big green button.
poof, you are now part of a group :D

Don't forget to go to Account > Sync here to update your group list.

Groups are like "clans" in MMO - you join them, then you are a member of that group, there's nothing more to it.

You can join more than one group.

Most groups are dedicated to certain Steam games, to find people you can play with.

To join a group, find the group on Steam and join it if it's public - if it's a private group, you need to be invited before you can join.

btw: you are already in 9 groups, so why did you ask? :P

So, they refer to the Steam Groups? Well, i thought the Group-Feature would be a standalone by steamgifts ^^ that explains why i couldnt find any "groups" button in steamgifts.com

No, it's all about Steam groups.

If you create a giveaway, you can make the giveaway for a Steam group, so only members of that group, that are on SG, can enter.

Those don't appear to be ones that are active in Steamgifts-related giveaways.

Also, your description of groups is a little simplistic, no offense. Different groups have different requirements. Some you join and that's it. Others require giveaways. Others ask that you be active in chat.

I thoght, OP didn't know about Steam groups in general, thus my focus was to explain what groups basically are and how to join them ;)

When I finshed writing I chcked his profile and discovered that he's already a member of some groups.

Of course you are right, some groups have certain requirements.

Here's a giveaway group you can join. It's an open group, so your chances of winning are much much lower than exclusive giveaway groups, but said chances are still higher than public giveaways. There's currently one giveaway up at the moment that I know of.

Edit: Also, never forget to Sync your account after joining a new group.

Shamelessly promoting your own group, eh Dsc?? Well it doesn't matter, that is a fine group and it never hurts to have more people in it. The more the merrier!! Ā°uĀ°

It's been a while since I've posted a link to it :P

Edit: It's also the only open giveaway group I know of off the top of my head aside from cuzwelovefreestuff and s.gifts.

Can giveaways be related to any Steam-Group?

Yup yup, when you create a giveaway you can choose to do so for any group you're a member of. Kind of pointless if it's not a SteamGifts group though, as nonSteamGifts groups may not have SteamGifts members ^_^

It depends on the group. There are groups that never make any giveaways here, while other groups are dedicated to making giveaways. You should check the group's description before considering joining it. Usually a group wants to clearly declare if it's a giveaway group or not. Protip: look for groups that have the word "giveaway" in their name ;)

Just remember that while most groups are open for everyone, some groups are private and might have special requirements for joining them. If a group is private, NEVER start bluntly asking for an invite to join unless the group clearly allows that. Most groups don't take kindly to people for beg for an invite, and you could be blacklisted and permanently prevented from joining that group.
