Today is a really sad day.... it's something I never use to talk about, not in forums or facebook... but dunno why i feel I need to say something about it so... here it goes to those who want to read it.

Yesterday my mom phone me... she had bad news... she won't be anymore with us... maybe some of you will say: " for good sake, it's just a pet", others may think "poor.. she was her pet but it's just a bird"... these are some of the things I used to think as a child until I had my first bird.... but you don't know what you can feel until you domesticate one and you see that they love you and give u as much love as a dog which normally is bigger than a human love.

Sorry for my bad english, but I won't accept saying IT to her.. she is more part of my family than my own blood in some cases. It's been 15 years since she born at home... its more than half of my life.

The month she born, I found myself with more than 15 chickens... I used to gave them but I decided to keep her with me... When I decide the names of my pets its because they mean something related to their personality. This time I used a 'pseudo-name' waiting to find the good one but she started to come to my call when I called her this way so... as she liked it, it became the final name... Her name is.. or was... "Amarillita" (spanish) wich in english is Yellowish if I'm right.

If you read it, thank you... dunno why but I just felt I needed to tell my feelings.

No gibs this time. I was planning to make another 120+ Gas like the ones ended yesterday but this time for everybody and some for WL but it will have to wait some days...

EDIT: dunno why pic doesn't load well so.. I'll put a pic from inet..

My condolences on the loss of your pet. I feel the same as you, and when you lose a pet (regardless of what species it is), it can be a really heartbreaking.

While it is a very sad day, I hope you can at least take solace in the fact that you were able to love her for 15 years!

Take care. :(

Yes... I'm sad when I look behind and remember all those days or time that I wasn't with her.... I passed the high scholl with her.... at university I had less time and then I moved to live with my bf and started working so I left her with my mom so she could care her better than me... I went every weekend to see both but it's not the same.... at lest the last week I had her with me and could play with her, give kisses.. and all that...

It doesnt matter if your pet is a Slug or a Dragon ... a pet is a pet .

its part of the family ... for you or for all of it .

When they pass away it is hearthbreaking so dont let anyone tell you the oposite , they didnt spend the time you did with them

So sorry to hear that. I have 5 cats and I also take care another 10 strays. One of my cats died this year (she was the youngest, 4yo, from heart attack) and in July, 2 of my stays were hit by passing cars (thankfully both are doing fine although one might loose her eye, we're still waiting) so I can understand how you feel.

You gave her a good long life, so you should be proud!

I'm so sorry, i lost one of my fish a week or so ago and no one could understand why i was so upset because, after all, it was just a fish

I was devastated when my cousins duck passed away because I'd adored her so much

Pets are family and you love them, so take your time to remember her

((also could you give a link to a pic of her? I'd love to see her))

I'm sorry for your loss. It doesn't matter, which species the pet is, because you always learn to love them (and they usually do it right from the start). Keep your memories!

It doesn't matter what species they are, when you put love and time into them you form a bond and pets become precious friends and family.

And 15 years is a really long time.

If you treated her well at least you can know that she had a good life and was probably a very happy birdy :)

May she rest in peace ♥

As for you, grief in whatever way you need to, but don't let others tell you that it is stupid because it was "just a bird". To you she was precious and that's all that matters.

I'm very sorry to hear that Roseicollis... 🌹

For me, and I'm sure I'm not alone, pets are not just pets, they are a real part of my life and family. I love my pets too and I have the (moral) responsibility to make sure that my pets are fed, nursed, loved and well treated. Losing one is losing a part of yourself.

And over the years I didn't need much time and hints to know that pets are way more kinder, faithful and humane than some (inhumane) humans are.

My pet bird died when I was nine. A couple of months later my granddad died. I was sad for my grandpa but nowhere near as much as I was for my bird. Pets become part of your family over time. People who say they're 'just pets' have no clue what they're talking about.

Pets are the same after all we love them equally so I can understand what you must be going through. They end up becoming a part of our family and even when they are gone, their memories live with us forever. Those happy memories you spent together always stays with you till you see her again. Take care of yourself and whenever Amarillita is, I am sure she would want nothing but for you to be happy.
