Is it June already.....
I appreciate Rob Schneider's.view on pride month.

Originally started on the anniversary of the Stonewall Riots in New York on June 28th, then made into a month by President Bill Clinton in 1999, so yeah... American.

Why only a week?
pro tip, you dont need to celebrate anything, not even a day
do this month your ass will be saved, or not, maybe its a guilty pleasure, not judging (its a known fatct that if you are strong anti sth, like jews, lgbt, pro catholic and searching pedophiles everywhere but not in church - then most likely you are a part of it but you hate yourself for this)

I don't mean celebrate for just a week. I mean have a great week everyone.
And I'm sorry but the rest of what you said makes no sense.

^ This. It is just really just sad. I mean the Rob Schneider video...

Thanks for responding. I'm not proposing an anti-LGBTQ+ view, and neither does the video. It just states (comically) that many great men and women have done great things throughout history, and most of them get a day to celebrate their accomplishments. Pride gets a whole month, and it just seems too much in comparison. Pride day is June 28th in many countries and that makes more sense to me. That's all I'm trying to say here. Just trying to politely share a sensible balanced opinion. And thanks for listening.

If we know someone is anti-something and they make jokes about that something, is it really a harmless joke or is it something they truly believe? Just look at the youtube comments, there's tons of replies from people who actually agree with his view.
You said it was done comically but then said you're just sharing a sensible balanced opinion so clearly it wasn't just a joke to you. It's an opinion you agree with. Why can't Schneider? Just because it's done in a comedy format doesn't mean he doesn't believe it.
Most importantly, IT'S NOT A COMPETITION. If you feel veterans deserve a month of their own that's great. I support that. By all means advocate for that. Give them a month or two months or the whole year. But that doesn't mean there's something wrong or unjust with Pride getting a month. There's no ranking or hierarchy here. Why do you feel like the things you believe in or support has to outrank or dominate everything else?
Judging by Schneider's past I'm skeptical that this comedy bit was all done in jest. His supporters don't consider it a joke. I don't either. He's free to dislike and talk shit about anything he wants but don't try to hide it as just comedy or cover for him when he's made it clear he's not a fan of certain groups.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Military_Appreciation_Month
The interesting thing with the whole debacle, that people don't want to give a month-long celebration to veterans. They want to take it away from Pride, and the veterans are just leverage. They aren't aware of the fact that a month-long celebration of military personnel already exists - this shows how genuine their concern is.
They don't see Pride as a month-long example of celebration to be reached for others they find worthy - they use the underappreciation of "the worthy" to tear down what they don't like.

Excellent question. I haven't stated what causes I believe in and support. Many readers here will be quick to assume, and I think their assumptions will say more about them than about me.
I have gay family members, and for years my family celebrated Pride Day. Now we have Pride Month, and my opinion is it's just too long. Celebrating something for a long period of time like that diminishes the celebration. It feels like spreading butter on toast compared to spreading that same amount of butter on 30 pieces of toast. It starts to run thin pretty quick. Imagine celebrating your birthday 30 days in a row.
That's all I'm saying. For anyone to assume more and call me "sad" or worse for not seeing things exactly like they do, shame on them. Pride is, among other things, meant to honor differences, but too many can't handle any differences of opinion no matter how much we may agree on. That, I think, is what's sad.
Thank you for asking a question instead of just assuming and insulting me, like I'm sure many will do. That's how discussions, understanding and appreciation happen.

So you came here trying to rain on people's sunshine and you are now acting pissy because people told you off? That's rich.
Oh to live in your world where the worst intolerance you will have to suffer from strangers is people calling your on your BS in a thread that was not meant for you in the first place.
Pride lasts a month because we are past the time when it was a throwaway day to pretend random gay family members were begrudgingly tolerated one day of the year.
Pride lasts a month because we have taken stock of and recognized that there are all kinds of Queer people and they should have the time and safe space to express their pride without having to compete with other parts of the community for time or space.
And neither you, nor Schneider or any other homophobic standup comedian really has a say in it. Feel free to keep whining about it with your buddies all month, every year. Your freedom is not being suppressed. You just don't have to do it here to trigger people who have suffered from intolerance way more than just being told they are sad or "worse" for expressing negativity on a positive thread.

Pissy?
BS?
pretend?
random family member?
begrudgingly tolerated?
whining?
here to trigger people?
You know NOTHING about me... and OBVIOUSLY I'm not the one being pissy.
I'm sorry if my opinion or existence triggers you, but the whole point of what you say your supporting goes against the way you are treating others.
So perhaps calm down, step back, and think about that for a while.

My point is: you're the one who has been here trying to ruin everyone's fun for absolutely no reason and now you're acting all offended like your intolerance should be tolerated.
I do not need to calm down. I do not need to step back. I definitely do not plan on thinking about you anymore. Enjoy the game btw.

Hey you know nothing about them! Only that they are intolerant and that shouldn't be enough for you assuming they are intolerant... or something.
Still trying to stir shit two days later in a thread that is not and has never been about him pretty much says it all.

Looks like mild annoyance to me and the label you brought up is not helpful to the cause. People get teased for all kinds of reasons, very often stupid. He wasn't even hating on LGBTQ+ people.
Different countries, different nations, different communities, different environments, different experiences. I'm a straight white "male" and never in my life have I felt privileged for this reason. This disrespectful generalisation jars with celebrating differences. Showing courtesy for fellow human beings, that would be helpful.
Comment has been collapsed.
Teased. Okay. Listen, making fun of Pride is to make fun of for all it stands for, it is not teasing. Why are you so eager to defend actions against Pride and LGBT+ people?
Discrimination is not teasing.
The lolol-video which is not funny for the LGBT+-community is tacky, it's vile, it's why we need Pride, it's ignorant, it's hurtful - yet we're supposed to just accept it, right? Sure, he could have said things like "shoot the gays", etc, but this was not made out of kinship and acceptance. This was made as a mockery, we're the laughing stock.
So should we accept it?
No.
So blow off with your "I think you should reevaluate your feelings and not criticize or make fun of those that doesn't accept you without cracking jokes on your behalf", because fud that.

I wouldn't worry about it duville, it gets exactly like this every year around this time.
I guess feelings run high for those who compare their current situations to those of the reasons organisations like Stonewall were originally formed.
Making a joke about a certain leader of Germany being an artist or vegetarian is fine, but don't you dare bring Jeffrey Dahmer into this - mental health and bad people simply wouldn't try and exploit the free love going around.
I understand the need for unity and protections to allow it, that's what Pride was originally about. But crowds always attract the wrong types and some of the good people will assume those marching with them to also be good and true. That brings defensiveness and othering out, which sadly is a reflection of Stonewall's origins mirrored back at the society now accepting (Mostly) of those marching.
Perhaps with enough time, and enough marches, it can go back to simply being fun and love for all :)

I see, so you don't actually agree with Schneider when he says veterans should get a month of their own or Lincoln or Washington should get a month. You think a month for anything is too long. You know you don't actually have to celebrate every day of that month? It's not all about celebration. It's also awareness, discussion, support. You can ignore it if you want and go about your life.
What about other month long events like Women's History, Black History, Mental Health Awareness, Breast Cancer Awareness, Military Appreciation (like adam1224 posted above), Autism Acceptance, World Alzheimer's, National Parks etc. Should we reduce them all to a day?
May was Star Wars month. There's always tons of fun Star Wars themed events for the month. For example Fortnite had a Star Wars event the entire month and is still active. Wouldn't it have felt really short if it was just one day?
What about Christmas? Officially it's one day, but lots of people start celebrating at the beginning of December up until the end. Should we stop doing that and only celebrate Christmas on Christmas day? Should we only put up decorations on Christmas day?
There's nothing wrong with your opinion if it's genuine and consistent. The problem is you used a comedy bit from a less than supportive figure, telling an already marginalized group they deserve less, and posted it in a thread that was meant to be supportive to lgbt.

What about Christmas? Officially it's one day
Well actually *pushes up glasses*, it used to be "Christmastide", lasting from Christmas Day until January 5th (Twelfth Night). Hence the song "The Twelve Days of Christmas". So while Christmas itself is one day, it's 12 days of celebration. Less than a month, but still. And I say "used to" but it still is for some Christian denominations, it's just that Christmas as it's celebrated today (with a decorated tree and whatnot) doesn't really have much to do with the religious festival for most people.
If you look at it from an even broader point of view, if we add all the days together that are dedicated to celebrating Jesus in some way (including Lent and Easter), we end up with way more than a month. Now of course he's a pretty big guy in Christian circles so you can see why he'd get so much attention, but it just goes to show that there's nothing unusual about extended festivities.

Pride is more than one person.
If a person gets a day, surely a ton of people could have a month.
Comment has been collapsed.
Way to miss the point! Schneider compares a group that is actively discriminated against with various groups of people who are lauded by society widely. People who don't need a month to remind the world that the exist as people and deserve basic human rights. There are quite a few affinity-based months, many of them even overlapping with months for other affinity groups, and one thing they all have in common is that they're commonly targets of bigotry.
Comment has been collapsed.
Not to mention most of those people were not indiscriminately shamed, harassed, discriminated against, ostracized and downright victimized.
Martin Luther King Jr was. And you know what? Pretty sure there are people who also think that he shouldn't even be getting a day...

I want to contribute something fitting to the theme and also to be a cool and relatively unknown Action Rogue-like, a good find was SOULBREAKER but the release date is not even announced yet.
Then I found Blood 'N Bullets but I tried it myself and I sadly can't recommend it, the meta progression it's not well thought.
So my search goes on.

How about Remnants of the Rift? Was just released a few days ago and is available on SG.
Edit: The LGBTQ+ aspect of it seems pretty minor, so maybe it's not a good fit? Good luck with the search.

That looks like a prefect fit. Thank you! I'll be trying the game tomorrow, and unless I have a major issue with it, will be my choice.
In my opinion the LGBTQ+ can be very small and still have the tag deserved has it is more about inclusion that of a genre of games.

There are few curators on steam that go thro certain types of content that might fit. For example Hella Yuri lists games that contain "relationships between women" one way or another (minor, major, passing sentence) - ranging from SFW and NSFW.

It's my first time participating in this event, having a cakeday so recently doesn't help 😩. And I chose a game that I loved and is very friendly to everyone. I'm very sorry for the strict rules I used, but anyone who wants to try their luck has a month to improve their stats.
