This is historical low for this game. Comparing it to Assassin's Creed Origins which have same discount, this is probably highest price cut this game will get.

On one hand, it's still expensive IMO, considering it's the standard edition and it's 4 years old. On the other hand, it's a very good game and one can get their money's worth gameplay wise. But still, even though I'm a fan of the series I'll wait for a better deal.

Taking into account Ubisoft's pricing strategy, I doubt there'll be much better of a deal on Steam. But overall I agree with what you're saying. I really enjoyed Odyssey and honestly I'd even recommend the higher tiers, especially since one of the tiers literally gets you AC3: Remastered as an extra. At least I did.

Ubi's platform being mandatory I tend to avoid needing both platforms in order to play the game (if possible), so I got my collection on Ubi's platform instead and with way better deals than on Steam.

Also, despite Odyssey being the obvious upgrade, I liked more the version set in ancient Egypt. I have a soft spot for ancient Egypt and its depiction in Origins was beautifully done and immersive enough to warrant countless hours of gameplay. As a side note, one can't go wrong with that one either. I'd say at these prices we're almost nitpicking but since we're spoiled with awesome deals on PC, these still feel expensive in comparison.

Oh, I actually fully agree. Origins was much more of a handcrafted experience and it shows. Odyssey has a lot more pre-generated areas, with forests looking very samey and artificial and mountains being instead just mounds that are very obviously done with the in-engine map editor they have.
I loved both games. Though I'm also a bit of a fan of the Ubisoft games since they scratch a weird itch for me.

Ubi had a sale on their store that was pretty interesting/nice. You could get the AC Odyssey Gold with Far Cry 4 + primal, or it some other combination of games, for $15 or $20 due to the coupon thing they had.

It is not possible to discount a product by more than 90% or less than 10%.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1222680/Need_for_Speed_Heat/ nfs heat is discounted to 95%.This most likely just applies to small indie devs.

Basically either get the base edition for a cheaper price of Gold Edition for all the expansions and AC3: Remastered. Other editions only add pointless gaff.

Worth it if you want 150+ hours of gameplay...repetitive Ubisoft gameplay that is.

Had my first experience with repetitive Ubisoft gameplay with Watch Dogs recently. The only thing I could think of is how indie games such as A Short Hike can make a small world feel big, while big worlds like Watch Dogs feel dull. There's a great Youtube video discussing that

what about Ultimate and GOTY editions?

There is no "GOTY" in AC.

  • Deluxe editions add some skins/gear and some missions. Nothing important or impactful. It's just the base game.
  • Gold edition is the base game and the season pass. Gold editions are the "whole game"
  • Ultimate editions have everything, is the GOLD but with the deluxe bonus but the overprice is HUGE so it's not worth it at all.

Don't know in odyssey or valhalla but in origins every content/gear/skin can be purchased with ingame money that you get doing silly dailies and luck. Deluxe editions are marketing scams.
