Maybe these oldies weren't that unknown when they came out, but they aren't mentioned too much nowadays

Darklands (1992) - RPG
Betrayal at Krondor (1993) - RPG
Ascendancy (1995) - 4x strategy
Master of Orion (1993) - 4x strategy
Z (1996) - Real time strategy

Sanitarium for some old point and click goodness
Klonoa some 2.5d fun
Knytt is a good free exploration game
Quake still rips but for a more "forgotten" fps id say Outlawsnfron Lucas arts

Since we are talking about ancient point-and-click awesomeness: as a kid, I absolutely loved Blackstone Chronicles, a slow, meticulous story about an asylum. No jumpscares, no monsters, just old-fashioned psychological horror, at times more sad than scary. As far as I know, nobody's been selling it for ages, so it's been truly forgotten - unlike Sanitarium, a proper established cult classic (needless to say, it's also one of my all-time favourites).

Future Wars (old Point and Click adventure with an awesome story)

The Dig (The best Lucas Arts P&C IMHO)

Singularity (Forgotten FPS with great mechanics)

NOX (great ARPG no one seems to have played)
