steam has given away massive amount of games before and gave away every game on steam to one person. tons of accounts were made and people in china won like everything. just by being more of them. so i would say its plausible

I would prefer 50 $300,000 gift cards. That'll buy like 12 copies of the latest AAAA game!

You can't buy AAAA games on Steam. Only on Ubisoft.

Recent scams, huh?

Seems like a lot are targeting Russia.
On game forums, tons of Russians got banned. Apparently, these are tools marketed as bypasses for people in Russia who can't connect to Discord. They get your PC hacked, and then they take control of your Steam account and mess with your computer without permission...

Like yesterday's post mentioned, browser add-ons related to YouTube work too... but I saw a topic recently about some nasty stuff being distributed that sucks out your info...

Usually, when someone posts on a forum asking what to do after getting a “ban” on Steam or seeing a fake “ban” notification, scammers message them, lying about being able to play Rust for them. They just steal money, IDs, and passwords, then disappear after taking over the account.

Well, I suspect some of the nonsense is just cheaters trying to cover up their bans.
This month, 90% of the inquiries on the game Rustforums have been from Russians, which has been confusing. :p

Before you panic, you should enable two-factor authentication for your Steam account. This protects your account if you can't log in for an extended period due to self-lock from emails sent by Steam.
There's even a procedure if your account gets stolen, so if anything seems off, scan with security software and be careful of malware, spyware, and suspicious links. Every year around the holidays, it's always the same old story.

There's a lot of scams out there and even more so around the holiday times. Unfortunately there's a lot of people who do end up clicking on things thinking these things are legit. I saw a couple scams over the past year where a lot of time and effort were put into them and they looked legit.

There's a big issue going on right now with a very popular free VPN called Urban VPN. It has over 6 million people using and they are selling the users info. The extension has 4.7 stars and over 58,000 reviews on the Google Chrome Web Store, it has been removed already. The company behind it is Urban Cyber Security, and they have some other extensions doing the same thing - 1ClickVPN Proxy, Urban Browser Guard, and Urban Ad Blocker.

If you must have a free VPN I'd suggest Cloudflare Zero Trust on mobile. It's offered from one of the huge content delivery networks and not from some backyard cyber security company.
