Everyone with principles does.
But to give you a few valid reasons why you should care as well:
Money. Corporate greed. While it was great when everyone used Steam, the big companies resented having to pay Steam a 30% revenue cut to use their platform. As a result, companies branched out and developed their own game platforms – allowing them to keep more precious money.
Telemetry (data collection). In addition to keeping a bigger share of the revenue, the big game companies also realized that they can collect more data about us all if they have their own platform. After all, Steam aren’t randomly going to give millions of data points about all their customers to other game companies. If those companies want to learn more about their customers, they had to develop their own platform to track everyone in a really creepy way gain valuable insight into their customers.
DRM. Ah, digital rights management. Well, play games with less hassle, for one! DRM is the bane of most gamer’s existence. Basic DRM might be understandable, but being unable to play games if your internet fails is crazy. Unfortunately, the recent surge in PC game launchers means that DRM can be added into our games easier than ever.
Additional launchers also mean additional logins, more points for hacker to get access to your data / payment methods etc etc.
Let's be honest here - you, me and everyone else just want to click on play... and play a videogame.
If you start a videogame and have to create an account, download another launcher, verify e-mail even though you already logged in through Steam... most casual gamer quit there. My girlfriend wanted to play a nacon racing game yesterday and had to create a WRC Nacon account and stopped after not being able to verify her additional account... even though she's already on Steam.
It's just a additional barrier to overcome for people who don't want it. It's like you creating another account only in order to access your car. Why? You already bought the car and have the keys - why don't you enter it like a normal person? Why does Mercedes now forces you to create a Mercedes Account in order to access your car? Nobody wants it - nobody needs it and it's annoying and most of all: Unnessecary for years old games like Bioshock.
And let's not even try to talk about EGS - they're the most toxic of all.

Fun fact: In Steam, if you go to "properties" and down to the Launch Options menu, put the filepath to your Bioshock install in quotations (e.g. "C:\<filepath to Bioshock Remastered>\Build\Final\BioshockHD.exe") and then add -run %command% it bypasses the launcher.
Doesn't change the fact that 2k added that nonsense to begin with but I was able to enjoy Bioshock in the first place thanks to it.

Having played the two games, I thought "well, for once Tier 1 is a great deal for some mindless fun!"... Then I saw it's ten bucks. Tier 1 is definitely not a thing anymore at Humble, they start at Tier 2.5.

I could care less about the 2K games here, but OlliOlli World is on my wishlist, Wave Break looks interesting though I resent their shift from Steam to Stadia exclusive, and now crawling back to Steam, and Tape to Tape is a unique hockey concept to me.
Seems like an alright deal at T2 or T3 for anyone who wants most of the games and doesn't have many games themselves. I think I'll wait for the games to be bundled cheaper since I have other sports games to play and nearly 1TB of other games recently downloaded. I did the latter earlier this month since I no longer have a decent wired internet connection - I have to use either my mobile provider which has some unknown soft cap where they'll cut my speeds when hitting certain GB, or slow DSL with a high cap that I'll never reach.

World as a part of Humble Choice was indeed cheaper than T2 in this new bundle, but that was the only game I wanted from that month's choice. So given the number of games I want here, this is a better value for me than choice, but not enough of a value for me to buy.

We might need to explain how "Tier 1" is supposed to work, I think Humble has forgotten.
Two games that are old enough that everyone interested already owns them, and everyone else has them on the ignore list. In that scenario $10 makes absolutely no sense. (Especially since the multiplayer is long-dead).
I would normally be interested, I play plenty of sports games. But I backed Tape to Tape on Kickstarter so I own that already. And I grabbed NBA2K23 free on PS5, so I don't think I need it on PC.
A Humble sports bundle and I am not interested, that makes me a little sad!
