Vuelta a España 2018

Also running: Singapore Grand Prix 2018.

How it works

Predict who is going to win each stage of the Vuelta.

  • Leave your prediction for each stage on the giveaway (they all include maps and profiles and link to the official site).
  • Do not edit your predictions if you want to change but delete and create a new one.
  • Below is a table with all of them but you can just go the first one and use the "next stage" link.
  • We're not going to make it too easy so anyone who just spams the same rider for all stages will be disqualified.

Nacer Bouhanni yesterday is not a total surprise, but he wouldn't be even in my top 5 bets.

Wow, what a tough stage finish it turned out to be! Great action by Gallopin and very glad to see Sagan back performing so well.

Will there be a successful breakaway today?

I can't watch live, but from some news I can see there is an interesting breakaway group with 10 minutes lead.

This wil be probably be the new record GT for successful breakaways :D.

Considering how narrow the last km was, fortunately there wasn't a larger sprint!!

Anyway, most stages had plenty of occasions to attack, hats off to the organizers about that (of course then it's up to the rides to make use of the opportunities).

It's funny that even though the ASO bought the Vuelta it still is a very different Grand Tour. And I hope it will stay that way.

I think that 99% of people had him as the winner from that group, that Euskadi rider was a total surprise !

Dylan van Baarle had to quit the race after stage 12 finish line crash. He rode one more stage, but was uncomfortable and in pain.

The crash was caused when a member of the organisation, who had his back to the oncoming riders, turned across the road. The organisation member had walked down beyond the finish line to speak to a police officer and had been on his way back up the finishing straight when the riders arrived. The finish area was exceptionally narrow and there was no room for the riders to go around so they shouted for him to move.

Geniez was the first to collide with the person, who was not seriously injured but left with several cuts and abrasions to his cheek and head. The Frenchman was sent veering off to the left but was saved from hitting the tarmac at speed when a policeman stationed at the side of the road caught him.

What a crazy finish ! They kept the gap under control all stage and yet the break succeeded, unbelievable.

Yates gets his Grand Tour; quite an achievement! After the Giro earlier this year he shows his chops again.

And Enric Mas wins today; showing that Quick-Step has a really amazing raft of riders.

I think that Yates showed he is ready for the next step, I guess that next year he'll be doing the Tour, he will probably be a serious contender. He was impressive at this Vuelta!
