What contributor only amount do you normally set on your giveaways, if any at all?

Commonly people set it to 30.01 so people who have only given away Bundle games can't enter

Out of curiosity how does that work out? Do most bundles total exactly 30 or something?

Your CV caps out at $30 for bundled items.

Ah I see, thank you for explaining that :D

No. The CV caps out at 30 if you gave away only bundled items, otherwise you can get more from it.

I normally leave my giveaways without a requirement unless it's a public giveaway, in which case I'll use the game's current value as the requirement.

For public giveaways I tend to go with zero. I mean, if it's public I don't really care about who gets it anyway, and I don't want to exclude people. I'm giving stuff away, not just rewarding other people who give stuff away. Otherwise it gets a bit too circlejerky for my taste. If I want to exclude people and turn a giveaway into a circlejerk I simply make it private to begin with.

That said I often just go with what I feel like at the moment. I wouldn't say there's any real logic to it. The only thing I don't like is making giveaways for pointlessly high amounts. If people can afford to give away that much, they don't need my special treatment to get games.

I honestly just pick some random number that looks cool, like $12.34 or $6.66 or something like that. I really don't care that much but prefer to give to someone who has contributed something so it goes to someone who is familiar enough with the site to have figured out how to give at least a bundled game.

Public games, kind of go game by game. I haven't done public in a while though.

Am I giving away an expensive game and want to avoid the zeros or am I giving away a spare bundle game key I found in a text file from 2004?

What are you trying to achieve?

  • If you want to include everyone who's ever given anything away, set it at $0.01.

  • If you want to exclude people who have only given bundle games, $30.01 will do it.

  • If you want to reward people who have given a number of non-bundle games, and/or contributed consistently to the community, then decide how many dollars merits achievement of your chosen criteria, and set it accordingly.

The uppermost limit you can set is linked to your own CV, so while you can make the requirement a little higher than your own CV, any grand ideas of $2,500 contributor value giveaways will need to be put on ice for the time being...

None -> $0.01 -> $25 (lower limit) -> $45 (most giveaways) -> $75 (upper limit)

$50 - $100
i think is reasonable.

edit: i set mine to $.01 and $30.01

depends on my mood, when I'm upset it's the max I can put, when I'm all fine and dandy then probably $9.99 or $20 at most.

When I do publics, I set the CV to anything between $31 and $3000, depending on the game. Anything higher than that might severly limit the number of entries :)

It's over 9000!?!

For myself, I usually set it to $0, or $0.01 for publics. For private, I usually don't have a CV limit, but I have been known to use $30.01 when I feel someone is abusing the system.

Ideally the CV requirement for giveaways should be left at zero.

I think the ideal CV for a giveaway is 266.16$.

I never set contributor value.

Of course the ideal value when entering is my current contribution value, so any lesser beings are excluded.
