if i win a giveaway and save it to my gift inventory can i give it to my friend or use it for a trade?

No, it must be activated on your own Steam account.

when i create a giveaway and it ends and somebody wins does it automatically give them the game or do i have to message them or something?

Steamgifts will notify you on-site that the giveaway has ended, but it's up to you to deliver the gift/key.

Most questions about Steamgifts can be answered by reading the FAQ.

Also remember that you have to provide the game or key when making a giveaway. The site itself does not give them out. You have to buy them.
