Well, if you already have money invested in games for PS3 Id get another one of those. If you don't have (much) invested, Xbox 360 has some solid exclusives you may not have played yet.

Im a longtime 360 owner and I swear by it. I recently got a semi-working PS3 and the big thing I noticed is the games (digital) on PS3 take up WAY MORE HDD space. I only had a 40 and was using PS+ and couldnt even download Uncharted 3 cause it was so big.

+1 PS3. they may have not too good of a service, but its free to do everything. The exclusives are good as well. And it plays PS1 games.

On top of that, free games all the time if you have PS+

Argh.
It depends on what you want to play since both consoles have exclusive games.
Obviously, if you have PS3 games you should however get that one.
If you don't care, then I'll look for the new X360 MS released this summer.
As a personal opinion I prefer Xbox but I would buy both since all that matters is the games you play, not the console.

If you don't like Halo, Gears of War, or Fable... there is no point in buying an Xbox since those are pretty much the only 3 main exclusive titles.

Don't forget about Forza, best racing game series atm.

Ps3. Why would you want to buy console(360), and then have to keep game time on your account to play online? just like WoW :P

Plus, in my opinion, Sony has the better exclusives, and just a better system overall.

(note: I own both)

Well, since you already owned a PS3 ( and I'd like to assume games for it too ), I'd suggest just buying a new PS3. That being said, I personally would go for a PS4, or if you're bored of new-age console games, go for a PS 1 / 2 for some nice classics ( PS 1 / 2 just because it's really the only consoles I owned myself ).

You can emulate old games on a PC. Most anything before the PS2 emulates decently. Just buy the games and then use their discs. Unless you know a different way of playing them.

Not everyone is keep on emulation. Heck, even with access to backwards compatible systems, I still tend to use the original systems instead. I prefer that for some reason.

Personally, I feel like it's a lot safer and it's like the comparison of eBooks to paper-books. I like the real thing, just like with paper books.

Different way as in free ISOs and ROMs you can get at several websites over the webs, along with free emulators? I'm not suggesting anything but yes, you can do that. It just feels a bit dirty to do that.

Depends on the games you want. PS3 has better exclusives, but 360 tends to have the better version of releases for multiple consoles.

lol MikeJ777 you obviously dont play both machines. 360 has regularly had games that played better on it. Developers blamed it on PS3 being difficult to program for.

Somebody might want to mention here that this problem was solved a few years ago. So unless the user is wanting to play older games...

It's not always game performance, there's a lot of factors on why a multiplatform release is going to be better one one platform over another. The controls may be better on one, or one may have extras the other doesn't. The online community might be good on one platform, non-existent or full of cheaters on another. Or it could be as simple as OP has more friends with 360s and would actually have people to play online with on the 360 and none to play online with on the PS3.

Which is why it overall depends on the games OP wants to play and how OP likes to play. I'd definitely not recommend 360 to anyone who isn't a fan of online gaming since it tends to shine more with online capabilities. I'd also not recommend 360 to someone who is a fan of JRPGs unless they have money to burn and want every good JRPG, because the PS3 has more good exclusive JRPGs.

I only recall a couple games that were better on Xbox... Bayonetta is one, and I forget the other. But, there may be a few more...either way, still dumb to choose Xbox over PS3 when there are so many more exclusive titles on PS3.

  • Multi-platform games (PS3/360) always run better on Xbox 360.
  • PS3 exclusives aren't really that great... (:P)

PS3, a lot of the 360 exclusives are readily available on PC. If you play online you might also want to factor in the cost of Xbox Live as well.

360 =

Better online service (although you do pay for that)

Some games play better on 360 than PS3

Some good exclusives

PS3 =

Great PS+ game rental service (although you do pay for that)

Blu Ray

Some good exclusives

Free online (although it is inferior)

If you are only going to be using one console and want the cheapest route to games and online then PS3 is the winner. Free online and you can get a game count racked up quickly as long as you carry on paying for PS+.

With that being said forget all consoles and wait until you can buy a Steam Machine that will destroy them all :D

Strange for me a PS3 controller feels better so that point is invalid..

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Not invalid. Just means you prefer the inferior controller. Most probably because you are just used to it and played PS3 with that pad far more, and used to the shape from PS2. The 360 controller is widely regarded as the controller to beat ;)

nope, the 360 is inferior since the DS3 is light an compact... Do you see where this is going?

There is no "best" controller there is just which controller feels better in YOUR hand.

Actually, your shitbox controller is not better than a PS3 controller. It is only better for FPS games, which should be played on a PC anyway, preferably with keyboard and mouse.

Either way, there are ways to use a 360 controller on a PS3 and vice versa. Should never decide on a console because of a controller. You decide on a console for it's exclusive titles... which Xbox lacks so much it shouldn't even exist as a console choice.

I am not a 360 fanboy by the way. By your shitbox comment i presume you are a PS3 one though. Anyway, ignoring that and treating you like a normal person, i own both so i am not going to rant on slating any console. They are both good in different ways ;)

For the other comments, yeah i suppose it all is how the controller feels for you, point taken. That has been removed :)

It is the best controller if you're seven and have extremely small hands.
Xbox controllers are a better fit for anyone older than seven. Just saying.
